"Every Litter Bit Hurts"
I originally had something more fun to post for Project Green. Then - I shot the above photo yesterday. I had gotten out of my jeep to take some shots of the beautiful blue and white sky. When I came back around the side of the jeep to get in the door I noticed the green bottle above the bank next to the road. I zoomed in for the resulting shot thinking maybe I could use it. Later on in the day when I remembered it was Earth Day I knew this was what I would post.
I grew up in an era of Public Service Announcements like
Keep America Beautiful, People Start Pollution; People Can Stop It, and the caption under my photo about litter. I know many people just won't do their part; but their trash is their trash. All I ask is that they be responsible and dispose of it in an appropriate way. Honestly, I know it's not always easy being green. I would hope people would recycle; but if not I wish they would just put it in the garbage. Throwing it out the car window alongside the road just won't do! I'll get off my soapbox now and promise that tomorrow I will post something a lot more fun and without any words. :)

Happy Earth Day
This was my sky today off the corner of my front porch today.You could hardly ask for a brighter more beautiful day. I know if you look closely through the bottom of the green bottle up there you can see all the dirt that has accumlated. Although, I thought this shot looking through the bare branches to the sky was pretty appropriate for Earth Day!
This is a photo of blue berries that are currently on a tree in my yard. I didn't even know I had such a tree until a couple of weeks ago. While walking the property line I glanced up into the branches and noticed the berries. I'm not sure what kind of tree it is. My neighbor pulled in his driveway while I was taking pictures but he didn't know either. It doesn't matter really. At the present time it has colorful leaves, blue berries and it's mine!!
For almost the past thirty-five years I have collected Hallmark Christmas ornaments. In those years I have probably collected between three and five hundred of them. Some were given by friends and family. In my previous home I had a cathedral ceiling in the living room and a twelve foot tree I decorated for many, many years. Now I have a smaller tree in my current home so most of the ornaments stay in storage. Right now my tree probably has about a hundred ornaments on it consisting of favorites from years gone by. I no longer collect them but did start a collection for my Granddaughter. Baby Lily is getting two for her first Christmas this year. One for baby's first Christmas and one for Granddaughter. So, the tradition continues! I hope you enjoy those I've chosen to share with you. All of them have a little red for this Ruby Tuesday Christmas!
These were the first ornaments for each of my children.
I love the little 'Ricola' man which is what I like to call him. The porcelain snowflake was from my son and his wife.

Happy Ruby Tuesday Everyone!
This past May we had visited a family cemetery for Memorial Day and explored the surrounding countryside. The railroad tracks you see are long abandoned. The trains would have been carrying coal from mines down to the Elk River near Charleston, West Virginia where it could be transported. Did you notice the tree now growing in the middle of the tracks? Down to the right of the tracks are some cows enjoying the shade as you can see in this next photo.
Getting closer I snapped a shot of this cow bedded down in among the trees. It was almost as if she had fenced herself in!
At the left of the photo you can see the bend of the road where we would leave the tracks behind as they continued on through the woods to nowhere. This is the same area I took some Watery Wednesday pics posted here.
Traveling a rural road there was an overhanging rock formation to the right and a deep body of black water on the left of the road.
Look where the water has stained the trees black.
