Skywatch Friday With GreenProject Green: Take Five

I've been doing a Project Green with Anna where we are sharing photos with a green theme which started Monday. Monday afternoon I was sitting in the mall parking lot and gazing at the sky in front of me with new green growth on the trees in my eyesight. The clouds were white and puffy. I thought to myself it would make a perfect photo to combine Skywatch and Project Green. When I downloaded my photos imagine my surprise to see ole' green Shrek himself like he was standing there, his head laid back and his hands arms reaching up looking up at the clouds!
I hope you see him too. If not, well then maybe it's all that champagne I drank yesterday celebrating my 100th post!!!

Earlier in the week I completed Project Looking Through with Mark; but I had this remaining photo that I thought I would share with you as well. It fits Skywatch and Project Green!!!

"Every Litter Bit Hurts"

I originally had something more fun to post for Project Green. Then - I shot the above photo yesterday. I had gotten out of my jeep to take some shots of the beautiful blue and white sky. When I came back around the side of the jeep to get in the door I noticed the green bottle above the bank next to the road. I zoomed in for the resulting shot thinking maybe I could use it. Later on in the day when I remembered it was Earth Day I knew this was what I would post.

I grew up in an era of Public Service Announcements like Keep America Beautiful, People Start Pollution; People Can Stop It, and the caption under my photo about litter. I know many people just won't do their part; but their trash is their trash. All I ask is that they be responsible and dispose of it in an appropriate way. Honestly, I know it's not always easy being green. I would hope people would recycle; but if not I wish they would just put it in the garbage. Throwing it out the car window alongside the road just won't do! I'll get off my soapbox now and promise that tomorrow I will post something a lot more fun and without any words. :)

Happy Earth Day

This was my sky today off the corner of my front porch today.You could hardly ask for a brighter more beautiful day. I know if you look closely through the bottom of the green bottle up there you can see all the dirt that has accumlated. Although, I thought this shot looking through the bare branches to the sky was pretty appropriate for Earth Day!

Camera Critters Sunday and Project Looking Through

My first post today is for the Camera Critters Sunday meme.

It was started by Misty Dawn of Misty's Musings. It is all about photos of animals/critters...pets, wild animals, farm animals, insects, birds, - you get the idea.

I'm always taking pictures of the wildlife in my yard so I knew this would be a good way to showcase those photos.

This week I am posting some photos of some ducks and a goose. I didn't find them in my yard; but at the local mall. That's right - at the mall. On this rainy day we had gone to pick up a tiller from the Sears store and as we were leaving the parking lot I spied two mallard ducks under a tree by the wall of the mall. I jumped out and approached them as quietly as I could. The captions under the pictures will tell you, as Paul Harvey would say, ....the rest of the story.

This is the lovely couple I spotted under the tree as they waddled among the wildflowers.
The lovely couple was kind enough to pose for me so I could take their photo.

The couple soon tired of the redhead with the camera and strolled off to find some privacy.
As they were leaving I heard a goose honking on the other side of the parking lot and drove over to find him heading for the water that had collected in a low spot between two grassy areas.

Already in the water were these two mallard ducks happily paddling away. I hope they weren't looking for fish!

Through the Frame - Take Four

Pretty in Pink

This bush seemed to come out in blooms almost overnight. Since the blossoms were pink I searched around the house and found a pink frame to use as my prop this time. I wanted to stay with the same concept as my previous posts. I really like the reflection the sun is casting on the back of the frame. I experimented with an angle shot on this one; but I'm not sure I like it yet. I might need to work on that a little; but the more I look at it the more it's starting to grow on me!

A Pale Daytime Moon

When I first started this project with Mark I chose the picture frame to look through. I second guessed myself a lot on the choice. I appreciate that Mark's first comments were positive and that gave me the incentive to carry on. But, I truly wondered how many days I could take that frame and make it work.

On Wednesday I noticed the moon high in the sky. It was a gamble; but I hoped it would work. I am pleased with how this one came out. My partner needed a steady hand to hold that frame that high in the air!

Project Looking Through: Through the Frame - Take One

My thoughts after I posted my last Project Yellow with Anna was what should I do now. That issue was quickly solved when I checked in to see Anna's last yellow post. It was a Yellow Dead End sign - a perfect ending for her project. And, she announced that Mark at Regular Life was beginning Project Looking Through - PLT for short. This is Mark's first project. Yeah Mark!

Not knowing quite how I would approach the idea I had to think it through a little. I had such fun with project yellow and seeing everyone's efforts that I was anxious for something more. I have already seen some imaginative results from early participants and can tell this will be fun and rewarding so I'm jumping in and "looking through."
