Red On Valentine's Day

Being that today is Valentine's Day I thought a couple of little red lovebirds would be in order.
This past weekend we had our first substantial snowfall and the birds were everywhere. I had so many flitting around it was almost overwhelming. However, looking out at the snow and all the red patches dotting the ground and bare branches was quite exciting. I love the cardinals year round but in winter they brighten up the cold gray days. Here Mrs. Cardinal sits all puffed up waiting for her turn on the suet feeder. She is so pretty. Here's a shot of both in the nearby oak branches. Ahhh, yes, love is in the air.Valentine's Day is a day to tell those we love, well, that we love them. It makes no difference if it's our husbands or wives, our children, our grandchildren, our parents or our friends. We all have someone we love that loves us back.
Today is also my birthday and since I have to share my special day with all the world this is my Valentine for you my blogging friends because I love all of you for being you and taking time to stop by my little blog and make me smile! Have a LOVELY day!

LEM Photo Challenge: Valentine's

Tara at Live Every Moment hosts a weekly photo challenge. The theme for this weeks photo was Valentine's.
I set out to capture the look of a vintage valentine. I took a photo of two of my Tom Clark figures that I've collected over the years. I took them with a plain white background and then added some texture and played with the light and finally added a frame.
All in all I'm pretty pleased. I hope my friends and family who see this totally forget it. It will probably be my Valentine Card next year!

Sepia Scenes: A Valentine Theme

A Face In ProfileAn Angel
Years ago when our family was new and we decorated our home in the country style of decorating I read Country Style magazine. There were many items I would have loved to have had; but with two small children to raise our budget didn't always allow for decorating items. This was especially true when simple items were pretty pricey. The angel above is something similar to what I had seen in one of my magazines. My wonderful Hubs took a piece of wood, drew an outline and carved out this wooden angel for me. What an Angel he was!
This is one of my valentine postcards from my collection. I have no idea of the date. The canceled postage mark is long worn away. However, it was mailed with a one cent stamp.

Ruby Tuesday: A Valentine Post

Isn't She Lovely!
She sits beautifully on a banner than is at present hung beside my fireplace. Having been born on Valentine's Day, yes I am a cupid baby, I have collected lots of valentine goodies over the years - we just won't say how many years. ;)
I saw this banner a couple of weeks ago in my local fabric store and it was on sale. I decided I had to have it. The photo is painted on a heavy canvas in vivid colors. I just think it is so pretty. It reminds me of a vintage valentine from days gone by.
A Happy Ruby Tuesday Valentine's Day to Everyone!

Ruby Tuesday: Valentine Goodies

A red velvet box of chocolates!
Most of you know by now my birthday was Valentine's Day. So, Hubs always gets red heart balloons for the day and one for my birthday. I have a thing for pink flamingos so that was this year's birthday balloon.

Ruby Tuesday:Valentine Gnomes

It's Ruby Tuesday time again! Mary suggested last week we could begin posting red hearts for Valentine's Day. This gives me a good chance to post more of my gnome figurines I mentioned during macro week.
Why so many Valentine gnomes? You see I was my Mom and Dad's Valentine gift many years ago. When I started collecting the gnomes it was a natural idea for my children to give me a new gnome every year for my birthday. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

An Early Valentine Wish

I want to wish all my regular readers a very Happy Valentine's Day and if this is your first visit an appreciative welcome and I do hope all of you will come see me again in a couple of weeks. Yes, it is a little early for Valentine wishes, but I am leaving the blog world behind for just a little while to stay with my little grandbaby girl, Ms. Lily. My daughter's maternity leave is up and daycare arrangements aren't fully in place so "Grammy" is going to stay with Ms. Lily. You know all the fun we're going to have! I'll be sure to come by everyone's nook, crannie, farm, little house, fishing pond and the like when I return.
I will miss all of you and look forward to stopping by for a visit real soon.

Meanwhile I wish all of you a Happy Valentine's Day
filled with lots of love and pink fluffy clouds to guide your way.
Watch out for cupid -
I hear when his arrows get you you're a 'gonner.'
