Project Black:The Final Take

"...and now it's time to say goodbye..."

....to Project Black it seems. Last night Anna posted her final shot and has said goodbye to Project Black. I had been holding on to this image for my final post. It is of a coffee cup my son Chris brought me back from Disney World a few years ago after doing an internship there while he was in college.

I do still have a few unposted shots I've taken this past week in my search for black that I will continue to post with other 'blog fodder' over the next few days. As always this has been a fun project to participate in and I have enjoyed everyone's posts. Many thanks to new and old friends for the many wonderful comments you have left here. I appreciate all of you.

M- I-C- see you in September, K-E-Y- why, because that's when the next project begins.

All Dressed Up

In my little corner of the world jeans or jean capris and a great T-shirt are the MAJOR staples of my wardrobe. In the country you really only need that and two or three "good" outfits and you're covered for just about anything that comes up. But when it's time to dress up a girl needs a few accessories to make that good outfit stand out in a crowd. I'm sure the ladies know what I'm talking about and when it is all said and done you guys like the end result, the pretty picture it all becomes. You guys nag and complain about prep time but in the end you like the eye candy of the whole package whether you admit it or not.

The two images above are a couple of my favorite accessories. The scarf was made in Italy and was a gift years ago. The colors add just the right amount of 'pop' to most plain basic colored outfits and I'm good to go.

Isn't the best accessory for any outfit a great purse and one in basic black! I love this one. My daughter found this Tommy Hilfiger bag at a discount store at HUGE savings. I'm a big Hilfiger fan and she knows it so this was a wonderful surprise. It has a mauve color inside ladies - gorgeous.

Dressing up isn't me; but when I have to I'm good to go!

Oh, I should tell you my darling Cindy also got me a demin bag by Hilfiger with red inside to carry the rest of the time! She's such a wonderful daughter don't you think!

To all the ladies reading I hope you enjoyed the eye candy today and fellows if it's any consolation to you I went to a tractor and truck pull today and will be posting those images real soon!!

Project Black Meets Camera Critters

This is my cat Heidi. I have posted her photo once before for Camera Critters. (here) Because of her ebony color I just had to post another photo to include in those for Project Black. It is fairly dark in the living room at night except for a small reading lamp. You can see here that her pupils are really big and black to compensate for the lack of light.

Our hostess for Project Black said no black and white images and to find black in color. She even said please. Well, I love this black and white shot of Heidi so I decided I would have to break the rules today. I'm not the first to break it mind you; even Anna broke her own rule early on in the project. With that in mind I'm hoping we're all entitled to at least one black and white image! (insert wink here)

Ah, Carletta, breaking the rules - what would all those mostly dear departed souls I had for teachers think of me! The one who didn't get in trouble. The one who didn't break the rules!
Oh well, what's a little rule breaking among friends....you all have a great day!

I took the first three photos last Sunday afternoon in my yard. The sky was amazing. It was hard that day not to keep looking up! The last photo I took specifically for Project Black. My local Taco Bell is a restaurant, gas station, and liquor store all in one. I'll be posting more from there sometime later.

Many of you know that before I went running from the work force I taught computers to students from kindergarten through fifth grade. This was the coffee cup that sat on my desk every morning. Even on trying days it made me smile. Hope it brings a smile to your face today as you begin your day. Be careful out there everybody and have a great day - with plenty of smiles!!!

Last Friday while taking the barn pictures I passed many of these as well as other road signs. I kept thinking I should stop and take at least one photo. Near the end of the drive I finally gave in and found a safe spot to pull off and just took one. This is the result. Here in rural West Virginia these signs are prevalent in areas where the deer population is the greatest. It helps warn drivers when they are in areas where it is likely to see deer crossing the highway.

"Going Down That Long Lonesome Highway"

This motorcycle was sitting outside the restaurant when I took the Black-eyed Susan photo last Thursday that I used for my Take Two shot. Cris posted her motorcycle that day and I commented to her she would probably see mine later. This is it. I really liked that this bike was so shiny that the nearby grass and the blue sky reflected really well. I took a couple of photos and the whole time I was hoping the owner wouldn't come out and wonder what I was doing around his bike.

For all you young readers the quote is from a song that played on an old TV show called Then Came Bronson and starred Michael Parks. He rode a Harley looking for what life put in his path. Parks sang the music track over the ending credits for the show. It was one of my favorite old shows I looked forward to each week all those years ago when I was in high school. We just won't say how many. No fair Googling!

JC, I think this would be a great accessory for your leather jacket.! And Dot, I hope you're reading this today. It has your name on it that I found when I downloaded the photo.

Big Black Barn

Yesterday I was out on a long drive and came across some Mail Pouch barns across the river in the state of Ohio. I probably photographed four or five of them. Covered bridges was actually the reason for the day trip and I'll post about those later. It just so happened none of the bridges were black!

If you are a regular reader you know I've posted some of these barns before. They were originally painted by the tobacco company as advertisement. We have a lot here in West Virginia. Some are painted all black with the ad on two sides. Some are painted with red on two sides like this one. This was the first one I had ever seen with red sides. You can see a hint of the red on the right side of the barn. Many are in disrepair; but this one had been recently painted and was in excellent condition. A farmer sat on his tractor and waved at us as we stopped to take a look!
