The Robin Tells of Spring

What the Robin Told

The wind told the grasses
And the grasses told the trees.
The trees told the bushes,
And the bushes told the bees.
The bees told the robin,
And the robin sang out clear:
Wake up! Wake up! Spring is here!
~ author unknown

And so, it's time to:
Throw off the winter jackets
Toss the woolly mittens
Store the winter boots
Pull on the shorts and T-shirts
Slip into Crocs and Birkenstocks and tennies
Don the Ray Bans and baseball caps
Turn off the TV
Go fly a kite
Lay on your back and watch the clouds silently floating by.

Ok, O-K, I know it's only the FIRST day of Spring but it could happen, will happen somewhere.
It will happen here even if I have to sit in front of the fireplace in warm toasty socks with a sweater around my shoulders and my eyes closed and head thrown back against the couch and I have to daydream and PRETEND - it WILL happen TODAY!

HAPPY SPRING EVERYONE!!!

Cute post, Carletta!
I am sending warm spring thoughts your way!
It has been shirt sleeve warm here during the day, cold at night. But not freezing. My pecan trees have not yet budded, so spring is not here yet. I check them everyday!
Happy first day of spring to you, too!

Well done on the imagery that you have given me. I know what you mean about daydreaming the idea of spring, i will holding on to it while winter reeks it havoc here done under.

I know Spring will happen but it's hard to get excited when I am wearing fingerless gloves at work so that I can type.
Great photos and words. Well deserved the "Blog of Note" distinction.

It's me again....I just have to tell you....as soon as I saw the first pictures of the winding road and trees, I thought to myself "Wow, that looks like West Virginia". Then I read your profile! Where in WV do you live? I lived in Elkview, right outside of Charleston for 10+ years. Both of my parents families were born and raised in WV, my dad's folks hailed from Logan. Nice to meet you, fellow West Virginian! It is a truly beautiful state!

Happy Spring! It's in the 20s here, but it LOOKS like Spring and I saw a robin earlier. I like the poems.

Thanks,

Oh... and what I came to tell you -- I'm jealous. (who me? again?) Yep! I don't have ANY Robins in my collection! Nary a one. I look and look and look for 'em... but I never find one. WHAT do you feed them?
