Other than the contrails, the sky is so-o-o clear! Beautiful! We've had a lot of overcast skies lately!

Love contrails when they catch colors at dawn and dusk - these are great!

I wonder if the people in the aircraft, value the skies as much as we do.
Lovely pictures. Thank you for sharing.

Lovely shots as always. And you were up at dawn! Maybe if I keep revising my sleep cycle, I'll manage a dawn photo one of these days. Don't bank on it, though. I decided to join in for sky watch this week.

Just lovely. I like the variety you shot also.
I put up a sunrise, too with a story... although I haven't had a chance to join the photo group I think you're in. Hope you get a chance to stop by.

These are beautiful sunrise shots and I had to laugh when "off we go into the wild blue yonder" started playing as I got to the jet stream one.

Those are beautiful pictures. We had a sunrise like that this morning and our temperature was at 5 degrees.

I know they are not the best for the environment, but I've always enjoyed seeing contrails.

Thanks for skywatching with us.

Looks like an exclamation point in that last shot, which is fitting.

I hadn't really thought about the difference between a no-fly zone and temporary flight restriction. (Actually I'd never heard the latter term until you mentioned it) But you're correct, the exclusion zone was temporary. I'd seen contrails directly overhead before the day of the rally, and since then as well (including today actually). In any case, they weren't letting anyone even get close on that day. And I probably wouldn't have noticed it if somebody else at the rally hadn't pointed it out.

I love those contrails because my daughter thinks they are shooting stars. I will have to show her these pictures tomorrow.

Gorgeous skies Carletta. I love the bright sun just waiting to rise.
We have lots of jets flying over our house, and sometimes these contrails can make interesting patterns.

Great views. Beautiful clear blue skies - and probably a little cold.

Very nice sunrise ! I never could watch a sunset or sunrise in Egypt, it was suddenly sunny or suddenly dark in a few minutes !

Anonymous said...

Great shots. I'll bet those pilots were enjoying watching that sun rise. :-)

In reply to your comment on my photo, it's just lush and green in some places. Most of our hills and mountains are brown and in desperate need of rain.

Beautiful photos Carletta. Love watching contrails as they wisp away to nothing.

It's fun to look up at the airplanes and wonder where they are going, and what the people are thinking, and if they are looking down and thinking the same.
