Sepia Scenes: Peek-a-boo I See You

I haven't had much time this week to go photo hunting so I experimented with a shot a took a few weeks ago of a deer in my backyard. The photo was a little blurry so I cleaned up the exposure somewhat and then applied an antique color effect as well as bumping up the red color balance just a little. The light colored leaves were yellow in the original color photo. This photo was taken the second of November. The landscape has changed a lot since then.

Hi Carletta,
How lucky for you to get a shot of a deer. I remember seeing this one somewhere else in another meme that we both do.

I was fascinated then that you had this shot. And I like it now too in sepia.

It's very interesting how the yellows turned white.

I love the little white leaf hanging down right in the middle and also the moss or wildflowers that are crawling up the tree.

Great job!!

Good one, Carletta!

Are the deer still coming into you yard even though there are less places to hide now that the leaves are down?

The sepia just enhances how well the deer can blend into their surroundings doesn't it? How lovely to see deer in your yard .. I get the wild turkeys!

You just about lose the deer in the background. But I guess they count on that huh?

Beautiful shot, and nicely framed. I like the faded look, too, which makes it look old and dreamlike.

Boo!! I found it too :)
The edits done to it, are beautiful. Adding a sense of mystery to the picture as well.

You know... looking at this, I'm thinking that if we could turn the whole WORLD sepia for a month, the hunters would have more of a challenge -- and the deer would have more of a chance! Could be a good thing... or not... I know they're seriously over-populated... but I'll just cry if any of MY bunch get killed.

Looks good! I wouldn't have known you had to clean it up, if you hadn't said so!

Thanks for this sepia photo which reminds me of "Snowhite and the Seven Dwarfs".

This is so magical, Carletta. Makes me think of pictures my friend B takes of the deer in her front yard. You are both so lucky.

He blends in!!! I had to look twice to see it at first! I love it, and um ... Melli's got a point there! The world should turn sepia whenever there are guns around!

What a sweet deer. I managed to get a shot of a deer last summer, but it was tiny and blurred. Yours is looking right at us in a beautiful setting.

Sepia would be great camouflage for deer - they'd blend right in during hunting season!

I love the sepia effect for this photo and how the deer blends right into the scene around him/her. I do envy you these four-legged visitors. What a joy it must be to see and photograph them!

I like this in sepia....I haven't seen any deer around my house lately....wonder where they are hiding! Somewhere warms, hopefully :)

Ahhhhh! Well-done sepia photos like yours do tug nostalgically at my heart like they are intended. Love the deer shot.
It reminds me there was a deer in our backyard a few days ago, but I couldn't shoot through the window to catch it nor would it have been a good capture. I enjoyed watching her though.

Experimenting with pics is great! I haven't done much with sepia yet. Maybe I should learn how to pronounce it first. ;-)
