Camera Critters: A Menagerie In The Snow

It was snowing and very overcast last Saturday when I stopped by a park on the Ohio River. I knew I was a little too far from this guy to get a clear shot but it was worth it to me to just point and shoot!
I love how the red cardinals show up so colorful in the snow. We had gotten about an inch last Saturday night. On Sunday this little guy was actually pushing the food to the ground below the feeder. Why?
The Mrs. and friends just so happened to be underneath. I have watched these two for weeks and he always seems to watch out for her. I've even seen them sitting on the branches and 'kissing'.
She did take her turn however! So dutiful!
I know - more deer! But, I had to show you 'A Buck and His Harem.'
This is almost three inches of fresh snow from Friday afternoon.

Love your snow birds -- and buck has himself one heck of a harem -- keep him warm all winter!

Wonderful photos, I miss the Cardinals, we don't have them here. We have lots of little chickedees and my beautiful Anna Hummers are still expecting the nectar to be warm. No joke, if it is cold they will look in the patio window and chirp up a storm. I bring it in and warm the tube feeders under warm water and they eat it. Spoiled? yeh.

I love the bird story, too.

Carletta: What a special look at the critter you have. Amazing amount of deer for after the hunting season. Don't stop showing them. I thought four different birds was so cool under the feeder.

Those deer look so beautiful in the snow - but so do all the birds. Nice of the Cardinals to care for each other and their friends... and I wildly envious of that hawk. I SOOO want to see a hawk with my camera.

Why is it, those Hawks are always just out of range?
Cardinals are always such a loving couple.
That's a young buck to have such a harem. Great shots.

Carletta,
An excellent Camera Critters post. This is the way I like to see wildlife. Everything is so peaceful and beautiful. I hope our area gets back to normal soon so that I may enjoy the outdoors too.

Thanks for your many visits and support on this issue.

Oh I am going to have to put you on my list of blog friend. I am so excited. I was born in Wv. My Aunt is not far from the Ohio river I have been there too.
In Ripley I would go on what my dad would call deer hunting. We before sun set would take a ride in a hollar and saw are many as 127 deer at one time. He passed in feb 2001. So I have only done this one last time. My Uncle John took Me and Auny Lucielle for one last ride. He was a bit more on the exciting side of driving.

I love the cardinals and the deer. We just put out our feeders and the cardinals and blue jays are flocking to them. We have 2 feeders on our deck outside the kitchen window. It's better than watching TV.
