Project Green: Take One - Gathering Moss

We're Going Green!

If you're a regular reader you know that a couple of weeks ago I participated in Project Yellow with Anna of Anna Carson Photography. This week Anna is beginning her new project - Project Green or affectionately known as PG. This week she is out to find green and has again invited us to participate right along with her. Let the fun begin!

I was out Sunday afternoon taking pictures of the blossoms in my trees and as I started to step up onto the porch I noticed how green the moss was since it had rained the night before. My friend Tom at Welcome to Wigger's World had just done his post Sunday about moss and I had commented to him that when I moved into my home last summer I wasn't sure I wanted to keep it, but was glad I had. So, I snapped a photo to blog about and show Tom.

I had fully expected Anna to choose blue. I had thought primary colors. She had done red and yellow. So, maybe blue. I guess that was the primary teacher coming through. I had looked at that blue building in her header for days and thought it was a clue and for days I had been snapping blue! At eleven o'clock I checked her post. Surprise, she had chosen that other primary color -green!

I started looking at the photos I had downloaded the past couple of days and there was the moss that I had already forgotten about. I was saved - yeah! But, I was shortly faced with a dilemma. I was waiting to be able to sign in to Mr. Linky on number 10 - a nice even number. While waiting I began looking at those participants already signed up and lo and behold Dawn at My Home Sweet Home had already posted her, are you ready, moss picture. Should I or shouldn't I? I did. Be sure to go on over and check out Dawn's too. Her moss is on a stone that stopped rolling and ended up gathering moss!

The photo below is a macro shot I tried to do of the little green plant in the moss. Be sure to enlarge the top photo to check it out! For some reason the bottom one isn't enlarging.

If you're interested in joining Project Green or just checking out other participants be sure to check out Anna's blog for the rules and how to sign up. Click on her link above to get there.

This is wonderful! I wish I could actually walk across these bricks and get the full effect. Stuff like this makes me think of secrets and fairy tales.

:), I use to pull the stuff out of the gaps in our brick patio, then I priced it at Lowes, Ha!! I left it after that and felt very avantgard. It was so much easier to live with. I will check out PG.

Love this! Glad you kept it ... it looks very appealing. And that's a great macro shot you got there!

Does moss grow near ponds? Now you have me thinking GREEN!

How perfect is that music choice for PG? Ha ha. Great find of green here. Wonderful lines all framed by a beautiful shade of green.

I would love to walk barefoot across that. Wonderful photo for the green theme Carletta. Reminds me of an English garden.
PS: thanks for your sweet comment on the previous post :)

That's a great shot of green! I usually only see disorganized moss, but yours is very organized. LOL!!! I love it!

Laughed out loud when I heard the music. Great mossy shot, I liked the other comment about organized moss...good one.

It's funny, but I fully expected it to be blue as well!

I love the moss shots.

I like these shots a lot -- I like how it's a very flat image (because the ground is flat), but the moss pops, not just because it's green but because it stands out above the stones.

And GREAT song, by the way -- Kermit the Frog needs to be a part of Project Green!

I never thought I'd find myself saying - "I love your moss" but I love your moss :)

and the song is so perfect and whimsical.

I missed being part of project yellow, I gotta get some green.

Great job! Moss can really soften up a hardscape like that. I enjoyed Kermit too - thank him for me ;)

I love the pavers and moss! PG huh? Well, haven't posted today. I had to go to dentist for way too expensive crown, but wish I had my camera...I had a great PLT of a cardinal while he was drilling! Yes...thinking of blogs at dentist.

All these projects! You're doing wonderful girl!

I like this picture..like the design color of green agains the concrete. And you know that the moss feels so lush compared to the hard surrounding surfaces.

BTW, I would totally enjoy a blog about your quilts from your Grandmother and Mother-in-law!

Oh my... me too, I took so many blue pictures this weekend, haha. Ok, it's Earth Day, so green is the perfect color for the week! Lovely picture Carletta!

I love moss between stepping stones. It's so quaint feeling. I'd like to rub my bare feet across it. Your photo's a good one!

How charming and lovely! Colorado is much to dry and arid to just haev moss growing in between the sidewalk cracks. Nice shot! :D

I thought Anna would choose blue too! I hadn't had time to shoot any though so I wasn't too disappointed. For me, there is green everywhere I look right now! It is hard to find something unique and different. Your moss, so symmetrical, does the job! Well done!

Moss continues to amaze me as well. I love the pattern that you found. Good eye for PG!

I love moss around bricks like that. It has a comforting feel to it for some reason. Also, the mood at the top - forever in blue jeans - is just too true. Blue jeans forever!

I love your moss, too.
