Blue Moon...Moonlighting Memories

Tonight as I sit in my sunroom and look through the bare branches of the oak tree outside the window I can see the full moon. Everytime I see a full moon I think of two songs. Moon River and Blue Moon. Many years ago, we won't say how many, Andy Williams had a variety show on television and he used to sing Moon River. I waited for those particular nights when he would sing that song. It has always been a favorite. I still know all the words. Tonight the sky is particularly blue and Blue Moon comes to mind. Again, years ago there was a TV show called Moonlighting that starred Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepard. If I recall correctly they sang a duet of the song Blue Moon. It was part of that whole will they or won't they get together thing about the show. I was young and in love with "David" and so wished I could be "Maddie." Can't say I know what Cybill is up to these days, but Bruce is still out there making movies being the good guy, and breaking hearts. He's still good eye candy and that smile (sigh). But, I digress. The full moon is gorgeous tonight and I hope you too got a chance to take in the awe and beauty of it.

Moon River, wider than a mile, I'm crossing you in style some day.
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker, wherever you're going I'm going your way.
Two drifters off to see the world.
There's such a lot of world to see.
We're after the same rainbow's end-- waiting 'round the bend, my huckleberry friend,
Moon River and me.

Your blog is so sweet. I just love it and congratulations on becoming a new Grandmomma. Ain't it grand? My only grand-daughter lives very far away too and we only get to see her a couple of times a year. It's really hard. Moonlighting.....Oh how I loved that show and that crooked smile of Bruce's....still love him. :) Hope you'll visit me often. ~ Lynn

The moon was really putting on a show yesterday. I also really enjoyed The Andy Williams Show and can almost him singing Moon River. Thanks for the memory.

The line "huckleberry friend" makes it sound like a country song.
