These are some old glass doors on an empty roadside store I passed late last summer. The store wasn't open any longer but the outside had been kept in its original form. The doors reminded me of the many country stores of my youth; especially with the cigarette ads on the glass. I imagine a small bell might have tingled when the doors opened. The patina of the unpainted wood reminds me of the little store of my childhood where my brother and I would return our empty coke bottles for a bag of penny candy and maybe another coke. Sometimes we sat on the porch drinking the coke with peanuts in the bottom of the bottle before walking on back home.
I like looking in through these windows to what looks like old tin on the ceiling. Did you notice the antique light above the door and another through the right window? It definitely looks like one of those places that make you think - if only these walls could talk the stories they would tell.
For my sepia shot I took the original (posted below) and converted it to sepia and as Mary did last week I have used a dry brush filter as well.

Melli's ABC Challenge: Letters Y and Z
This is the final week of Melli's ABC challenge. These past thirteen weeks she has asked us to 'find the alphabet revealed either in nature...or elsewhere...but found naturally--unassisted by us.' Todays letters are Y and Z.I think this Y is my favorite find of the challenge. I found this back in February at the beginning of the challenge. I was out picking up sticks that had fallen from the oak tree and turned and there was the most perfect natural Y. If you enlarge this you can see a bird feather nestled in the dried grass.

I'm really pleased too with this line of Y's along an interstate highway. They were all lined up and standing proud. The sign across the highway had lots of X's I noticed and if you look closely W, Y and Z. If you enlarge this next ph
oto I painted out the shapes to show you what I see.
