Through My Window:My Favorite View

I have been joining Robert (Thoughts of a Father) this week in his photo project titled "Show Me." Today he has asked participants to post photos of their favorite views from their home. For a few weeks now I have reserved Thursday to post photos of the view Through My Window. It is one of many favorite views in my home. One day this week the skies were gorgeous. I love sitting at my computer and being able to see nature all around me. For some thirty years I lived in a subdivision with someone living on each side of me and in front and back of me. It is a wonderful pleasure to look out and see space and nature.

This week the turkeys have been coming in to the yard in great numbers some days. They come to eat the spilled seed from the bird feeder. This past Monday there were ten here together as you can see. There were seven gobblers and three hens.

And who wouldn't love this view! This is one of two fawns that have come to the yard this summer. This one is the youngest and seems to like the flowerbed around the oak tree. I took this on Sunday but I've seen it everyday this week.

The skies are the best thing about the view out my window. This was just before sunset the other night. I did walk out on the deck and take this so it wouldn't be through the glass of the sunroom window.

Last week I participated in an "Opening Doors" challenge with Jientje and posted some photos of my deck and the views I can see from there. If you didn't see those please click (here) to see more of the favorite views at my home.

The Closing of Opening Doors

A photo challenge hosted by Jientje of Heaven In Beligum.
Monday when I invited you up to my front door you weren't sure what to expect during your visit this week as I took you around and showed you the doors here Round The Bend. Let's go through the open doorway from the living room into the sunroom and out onto the deck. You can see Heidi is already waiting for someone to open the screen door.
Out on the patio there is iced tea in vintage aluminum cups and yummy cookies waiting for you. Look Melli, there's even a chocolate zinger just for you!
When the cookies are all gone we can kick back in our chairs and listen to the music pouring out of the sliding glass doors.
The turkey vultures will no doubt be flying over the rooftop gliding in the breeze that is gently blowing around us.
We could just lay our heads back on the cushions of our chairs and stare at the sky.

When it's time for you to go please remember to shut the gate to the deck.

As you leave you'll walk through the arbor to the driveway.
When you get out under the arbor remember to turn and give a wave; because, after all, backdoor friends are best!!

Thank you Jientje for hosting the Opening Doors challenge this week. It was a wonderful idea for a photo challenge and you have been an awesome host!

Shadows in Sunshine, Reflections in Raindrops

As I sat at my computer in the sun room last week I could glance out at the deck on the other side of the nearby glass doors. The rain was intermittently falling between bouts of sunshine. Spring was upon us and I'm sure if it were possible I could have sold bottled sunshine to those looking for brighter days!

On this particular day I noticed the patterns of the deck railings and posts as they made shadows in the sunlight on the deck's surface. Then the rain would fall. The wet surface then reflected those same posts and railings. I found I liked the wet look the best. It seemed clean and fresh. The green of the yucca plant just beyond the rail glistened. I loved the contrast between wet and dry. The railings and posts stood steadfast rain or shine.

It promises to be another rainy day here today. But then, it is spring. The spring rains must fall to make the earth green again and bring forth new growth. It's a necessity of life.

As much as I wish I could, I can't sell bottled sunshine and we aren't promised sunshine without raindrops. What we can do is accept the day that is given, rejoice in its sunrise, bask in its glow, cheerfully accept its inevitable raindrop, and give thanks at sunset that life goes on rain or shine.
