The Closing of Opening Doors

A photo challenge hosted by Jientje of Heaven In Beligum.
Monday when I invited you up to my front door you weren't sure what to expect during your visit this week as I took you around and showed you the doors here Round The Bend. Let's go through the open doorway from the living room into the sunroom and out onto the deck. You can see Heidi is already waiting for someone to open the screen door.
Out on the patio there is iced tea in vintage aluminum cups and yummy cookies waiting for you. Look Melli, there's even a chocolate zinger just for you!
When the cookies are all gone we can kick back in our chairs and listen to the music pouring out of the sliding glass doors.
The turkey vultures will no doubt be flying over the rooftop gliding in the breeze that is gently blowing around us.
We could just lay our heads back on the cushions of our chairs and stare at the sky.

When it's time for you to go please remember to shut the gate to the deck.

As you leave you'll walk through the arbor to the driveway.
When you get out under the arbor remember to turn and give a wave; because, after all, backdoor friends are best!!

Thank you Jientje for hosting the Opening Doors challenge this week. It was a wonderful idea for a photo challenge and you have been an awesome host!

A Cabin In The Park

A Photo Challenge Hosted by Jientje of Heaven In Belgium
A Country Welcome
Behind this door there would have been no electricity, no running water, no indoor plumbing and no central air and heat. How do you think you would have endured? Would you have had the fortitude to make a life for yourself and your family?
To This Little House
Life in this little cabin without the aforementioned amenities would no doubt have created hardships. At the same time the family living here would have all sat around the table for every meal planning their day or talking about it. Everyone would have helped in the chores that HAD to be done and each night around the fireplace the family would come together and rejoice in what meant most - family.

Opening Doors: Through My Window

A photo challenge hosted by Jientje at Heaven In Belgium.

On Thursdays I post something for you to see that I've seen Through My Window. What was I going to post this week that I could possibly tie in to Jientje's Opening Doors Challenge? It wasn't looking so good until the idea came for me to show you at least part of the big old oak tree that I have often talked about in this blog. I sit everyday and gaze through it's branches that shadow the yard below.
Hanging from one of those branches is a bird feeder that helps supplement the meals of some of the birds that visit it daily. What the cardinals and sparrows and occasional mourning dove let shake to the ground the squirrels, turkeys, and bluejays feast on from below. My little feathered friends keep me amused on a daily basis. Sitting in my sunroom looking around something caught my eye and I had a tie-in for the challenge.
What caught my eye was this glass-like doorknob.
The doorknob was attached to the church birdhouse sitting on my sunroom floor. The doorknob is for a little birdie to perch upon before entering his house. There you have it - I still got to show you the view Through My Window and a little 'door detail' as well!

As always, I hope the view through your window is a pleasant one today!
