A few weeks back before my Christmas break I had posted a couple of entries to Good Fences of the historical Sharp's Country Store in Slatyfork, West Virginia. The eighth generation of the Sharp family still owns the property and runs the store. It is said General Robert E. Lee ate supper in the log cabin behind the store sometime in 1862.
This past week we had six inches of snow and this is what my front yard looked like. Most of this was gone Tuesday and what was left was that ugly dirty stage of snow; but we awoke this morning to a fresh light dusting that made the ground white again. Temperatures stayed below freezing so it didn't melt. Today's expected high of 38 will most likely melt it away.
Here's the other side of my fence. I had begun taking down the Christmas decorations on my porch and inside my house but hadn't make it outside to take the bows off my fence. Actually I'm rather glad I hadn't. We didn't have snow for Christmas so this made for a pretty shot. Who knows, this could become next year's Christmas card.
