Pastel Painted Sky

Sitting in the car Tuesday waiting for Hubby to pick up a new shower hose from the home improvement store I noticed pastel colors in the sky. I had my camera with me and took the first two images. The last photo was taken ten minutes later on our way home. I'm assuming this is what is known as a sundog. It was early afternoon and the sun higher in the sky than I would have expected in regards to seeing a sundog. However, the last shot depicts more what one normally sees. Click on the first to enlarge and enjoy the slide show.

    Great captures. I know sundogs are frequently seen when the sun is low on the horizon and it is cold outside. I've seen others up high in the sky over our mountains, too.

    Confession: had to google "sundog". Awesome sky photos and now I'll be on the look-out for sundogs. (or at least I'll know what it is called when I see it.)

    These are amazing photos. Thank goodness you have your camera with you while waiting at the hardware store. (I always carry camera and Kindle for just such events...anytime we go anywhere for any reason, the trip is apt to include a stop at Home Depot which I will enter only under protest.)
