I always see hawks flying around the field between me and my neighbor. Ever since the first of March I have often seen a pair. In the five years we've lived here this is the first time I've seen two at once. Last Tuesday I saw this guy. He was too far for a close up but for the record I wanted to know he'd been here. I didn't download my memory card until yesterday. Do you see what I did when I examined the photo? Look closely at that walnut limb that got in my way. See the feet and tail feathers? Yep, his good ole matey was right there.
EDITED: The comments indicate I should provide more info on where to look in the first photo. Look at the bottom of the dark limb on the right where it seems to jut into the photo and you can just barely see the feet and tail feathers of the other hawk.
Linking to Wild Bird Wednesday (on Tuesday).
Great catch with your hawks. We sometimes concentrate on one think and miss what else is there. I really had to look for this one.
ReplyDeletei'd love to see a towhee sometime!
ReplyDeleteWow - great shots. I had to come back three times to find the mate - and then when I found it - was surprised at how easy it was to see.
ReplyDeleteIt took me awhile to find the mate too. The little towhee is a cutie.
ReplyDeleteGreat catch on your second hawk. Lovely photos! Fun to find things in our photos we didn't spot the first time.
ReplyDeleteWow - I don't know how you saw that other hawk - thanks for the added clue! What a great catch!
ReplyDeleteIt's always a nice surprise to see something in a picture you didn't see at the time. But it can be a bit annoying as well knowing that you missed it. From Findlay
ReplyDeleteOh I see him (her?)...anyway the other one. I love finding surprises when I download the camera.
ReplyDeleteAwesome shot of the towhee. I see the mate in the first photo. Cool!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics. I just recently got a shot of the Towhee. I was very jazzed to get a pic. Your shot is great.
ReplyDeleteThe hawk is gorgeous! I found the mate before I read the clues. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat to capture both hawks in the one photo and the Towhee is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSuperb shots of birds.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos of birds :)
ReplyDeleteGreat sighting of the Hawk couple, Carletta. I found the second hawk, no proble. Love the cute Towhee too. Have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteHi Great capture of the Hawk and I saw the other one before the clue although I don;t think I would have seen it if you had not told us it was in the shot! You have sharp eyes.
ReplyDeleteThe clue helped. Found him. That is a wonderful photograph. They don't have to all be closeups.
ReplyDeleteSaw it as soon as you said "look closer" - neat! Beautiful images - you are the bird-whisperer.
ReplyDeleteNice shots, well spotted as regards the other bird, and the Towhee looks great.
ReplyDeleteAlol the best Gordon.
Excellent!!!! Good eye. MB
ReplyDeleteMagnificent hawks!
ReplyDeleteLove the Towhee picture - they've really been singing everywhere around here lately.
He sure looks focused on something!
ReplyDeleteI have not seen the towhee around here...need to check and see if they live here. I am betting they do.
Love watching hawks and other raptors too. I've seen spotted towhee but not an eastern one yet. maybe in the future. :)
ReplyDeleteI found his mate first up which is unusual for me. The little shy one is cute and the light in the photo is super.
ReplyDeleteThe Towhee is a beautiful little bird.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely these 2 birds~
ReplyDeleteI am hoping to find one of these Eastern Towhees:) They are cool birds!
