I believe this beautiful little birdie is a Purple Finch. I've seen maybe one or two over the last three years. It isn't a great shot by any means but I was thrilled to at least get a picture of it before it flew away.
She's nesting in the rafters of our gazebo. I hope we'll be able to record the happenings in the nest.
You gotta love the pose of this little guy! I think he's a White-throated Sparrow but I'm not a hundred percent sure. I've only been bird watching seriously for about a year so I still have lots to learn to be able to identify some of my feathered friends. If you know what he is tell me in the comments. Hubs thinks he looks like a little hawk from the back. You think he pretends to the ladies?
A Red-Bellied Woodpecker grabs some corn and off he goes. I've seen him on more than one occasion eat a few bites, grab a kernel, hop up the oak tree and then fly across the adjoining field with his treasure.
Hope you enjoyed the birds here Round The Bend. They aren't nearly as scary as the Hitchcock kind! :)

Love the yellow ones all looking at the camera posing saying:" Look at me! look at me!"
I really like that butt shot. It's the clearest! :)
Great collection of birds, Carletta! And they all posed very nicely for you. I take a lot of window shots.
Great selection Carletta!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
They are all such cute little things. Love them all :)
What a Super Series!
ONE,
YES, THE BUTT SHOT IS THE CLEAREST BUT AS I EXPLAINED I WAS SHOOTING THROUGH THE WINDOW. SINCE THIS ISN'T MY PHOTOBLOG I DON'T MIND THAT THE SHOTS AREN'T ALWAYS AS CRISP. HERE IT'S MORE ABOUT THE STORY. :)
I think you're right with the White-Throated Sparrow. Looks like the picture in my bird book. Wonderful selection of feeder friends.
I love those 6 birds in one shot!
Lovely critters!
Would you come and see my critters? Thank you!
Definitely not Hitchcock kind of birds, these are all lovely little fellows. The goldfinches on the feeder are so cute .... and they do look like they are watching your every move.
I really love these bird shots!!! I have tried for the past three months to catch a bird - spent hundreds on feeders and special food - but alas, there is a red-tailed hawk family in my neighborhood - perhaps that is the reason so few birds?
I really enjoy your photos!!
Wow, great shots of feathered friends. I wish I could hear their little chirps too :) XoL
Hi Carletta, You have most of the same little birds that I have here in my backyard. I've only seen a Hairy once or twice. They don't come to the suet feeders.
Love your finches and the finch feeder. I may need to get one of them...
Have a great Palm Sunday.
Hugs,
Betsy
Your birds aren't scary at all. These are wonderful pictures, especially when you say they were taken through a window. We have many, many goldfinch at our feeders as well. I think there are more than we've seen in previous years.
Actually, I want to add that they are all good shots. I find birds hard to capture unlike little critters who don't quite mind my camera. I still like the butt shot. :)
Very, very nice Carletta!!!!
Wow, great set of bird photos...and all through your window!
They are beautiful birds. Great captures.
An excellent series. I think you are right about the White-throated Sparrow ID.
Wonderful! I swear I'm going to borrow back a feeder or two from our daughter when we get back to Oregon later this summer. There are goldfinches there and one that isn't quite so purple that's called a house finch, so your pictures really made me miss the days when we fed birds.
