Viburnum: From Bud To Bloom

Viburnum Buds

(enlarge for best viewing)

(Does anybody else see a strange looking green butterfly?) ;)

Viburnum Blooms

The buds began to blossom and popped out almost all at once. We had lots of wind and rain for a few days so it was hard to photograph them and they are beginning to turn brown on some edges and will soon be gone. I wasn't pleased with the photos I had taken so I've added a texture to this one to give it a much softer 'artsy' look.

Posted for Macro Monday and Ruby Tuesday.

I Do I Do teacher. It's beautiful. And you mean to tell me that it blooms that pretty flower? They look like the Puakenikeni. Beautiful.

Hiya Carletta,
Even though I don't often agree with the power of textures, I have to say you did very well with the viburnum. Haven't seen the original of course, but this looks so natural.
And I enjoyed travelling through the bud stage, getting bigger and bigger.

The green butterfly escapes me, but maybe my imagination has woken up yet this morning :-)

Great pictures, Carletta... The Viburnum is gorgeous. We had much rain and wind also--so most of our tulips are gone now.

Have a great day.
Hugs,
Betsy

I like both the bud and the bloom photos. And the subtle texture on the last image works wonderfully.

I do see the butterfly. I really like this first picture, but the texture you've added to the second is very neat -- and artsy -- as well.

What a pretty display of photographic art, Carletta! Such nice nice work! Love that 'pop' of red in the first photo!

It appears as a butterfly in flight - wearing a sort of crown on its back. As a flower (or insect), it has a regal air in bud, lovely. A stunning capture!

I had them before, but pink

How pretty. I would have never guessed that these red buds would explode into such a soft pink.

Love the first shot, it looks like floating in the air without a stem holding it..
