Turning Over A New Leaf

When you decide to do something different to change your life for the better you are turning over a new leaf. A new season has begun and what a better time to turn the page, start a new beginning and make your life a little better. Lose those last five pounds, read a good book, take a class, smile at a stranger, hug a loved one - turn over a new leaf and see what happens!
Even the green leaves of summer are turning over a new leaf so to speak. Yesterday was the first official day of autumn and the leaves of my Burning Bush are showing their vibrant fall color.

I've Been Tagged and Awarded

Quilly (Quintessentially Quilly) has tagged me for a mission. It was quite some time ago that Neal (Photographic Memories) also tagged me for this mission. I accepted, he went on vacation, I told him I'd do it when he got back and then I forgot until yesterday when Quilly tagged me too.
Yes Neal, I know, it's been WAY too long. Forgive me.
Here's the way this tag is supposed to go.

Your Mission, should you choose to accept it:

1) Go to your photo files…Select the 6th photo folder
2) Select the 6th photo in that folder
3) Post that photo along with the story behind it.

Above is the 6th photo from my 6th photo folder.

Luckily it's a fairly nice one. This is SOOC and I like the play of the light and shadow on the leaves against the blue sky on that autumn day. I was at my Mom's taking pictures of the last of the leaves on the two maple trees in her front yard. My Dad had planted the trees when we moved into the house when I was about five years old. The trees and I grew up together you might say and it gives me comfort knowing my Dad planted them all those years ago. It is a published image from last October.
Now I'm supposed to name six blog friends to do the same. I know many have already been tagged or done this before so I'll leave it that anyone who would like to accept the mission - You're Tagged! Do let me know if you decide to post that long lost image so I can check yours out as well. It's fun to go back and see what you have and discover some things all over again. My sixth folder is almost 100 folders back. I really do need to transfer some of those someplace else!! :)

I also received an award from Thom (Thoms Place 4 Well Whatever...) . Thom hasn't been blogging long and he already has a long list of followers. He is a super guy and I think he exudes a love of life. I'm overjoyed he thinks my blog is lovely. Thanks Thom, I appreciate it my friend.

Ruby Tuesday: A Last Look

I thought for Ruby Tuesday I would post the last of the autumn color in my corner of the world. I took this last Thursday while on a drive and in less than a week the landscapes around me in just those few days have entered their brown-out period and many trees are bare of leaves. I hope you enjoy this one last colorful look!

God's Been Painting My WorldA New Meme: Sepia Scenes

Today is the beginning of a new meme hosted by Mary/The Teach at Work of the Poet. We are posting images with the look of old photos. The sepia tone adds a sense of class and timelessness. My photo today is of an old furniture warehouse here in Parkersburg long ago gone out of business. Though abandoned and crumbling it still stands by the well used railroad track as a reminder of days gone by. These past few days color has been in abundance wherever I look. Soon it will all be that brown sepia color that sets in before winter. Along with my sepia image today I'm also sharing the color in my little corner of the world.

On a Sunday drive down a sun-dappled roadway I could see God's handiwork on the leaves of the trees and the mass of fallen ones that lined the road.

Closer to home one lone tree on the sloping countryside burst forth in golden color underneath the grey skies overhead.

Standing looking off my deck God whispered that I really didn't need to leave home at all. He had brought his handiwork to my own back yard.

Wherever you are today take time to enjoy your view!

Ruby Tuesday In The Fall #2

I had gone to visit my Mom again on Monday and took some more photos of the leaves left on her trees. Two maples in her front yard which are thirty five or forty years old have lost almost all their leaves.

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!!

We had our first snowfall today. Yes, looking at the pictures it wasn’t much. But, if this country girl is going to move five hundred miles back to her roots and it’s this cold (32 degrees), well then, I wanna see some snow!! The good news is the weather man says that we may see one to two inches of snow on the ground Wednesday morning. I can hardly wait. Stay tuned!
