Raven's Wordzzle and An Award

It's been a long time since I participated in the Wordzzle Challenge so I thought I'd surprise Raven with at least the mini challenge. You can click the badge to read other participants entries.
For what it's worth here's mine:

Obama says the recovery for the economy is a long way off, Michael Jackson is leading the choir in heaven this week and teaching the angels to moonwalk, I need a ladder to wash my windows and I haven't a clue where one is, AND the structure of this sentence is way too long by most standards.

There you have it. All the words are in one sentence in the order in which Raven submitted them.

*************************************

Did you all see Raven's post yesterday? It was her birthday. Once again Raven, HAPPY BIRTHDAY and Best Wishes for many, many more!!!

I'd like to thank Jientje for the blog award she bestowed on me yesterday for my photoblog, Carletta's Captures. Thanks Jientje! It was my first award for that blog which makes it that much nicer. If you didn't know I had a photoblog and haven't checked it out click on over there if you have time and see my photos of wild baby turkeys. These little guys can already fly!

I've Been Tagged and Awarded

Quilly (Quintessentially Quilly) has tagged me for a mission. It was quite some time ago that Neal (Photographic Memories) also tagged me for this mission. I accepted, he went on vacation, I told him I'd do it when he got back and then I forgot until yesterday when Quilly tagged me too.
Yes Neal, I know, it's been WAY too long. Forgive me.
Here's the way this tag is supposed to go.

Your Mission, should you choose to accept it:

1) Go to your photo files…Select the 6th photo folder
2) Select the 6th photo in that folder
3) Post that photo along with the story behind it.
4) Then challenge 6 blog friends to do the same!

Above is the 6th photo from my 6th photo folder.

Luckily it's a fairly nice one. This is SOOC and I like the play of the light and shadow on the leaves against the blue sky on that autumn day. I was at my Mom's taking pictures of the last of the leaves on the two maple trees in her front yard. My Dad had planted the trees when we moved into the house when I was about five years old. The trees and I grew up together you might say and it gives me comfort knowing my Dad planted them all those years ago. It is a published image from last October.
Now I'm supposed to name six blog friends to do the same. I know many have already been tagged or done this before so I'll leave it that anyone who would like to accept the mission - You're Tagged! Do let me know if you decide to post that long lost image so I can check yours out as well. It's fun to go back and see what you have and discover some things all over again. My sixth folder is almost 100 folders back. I really do need to transfer some of those someplace else!! :)

I also received an award from Thom (Thoms Place 4 Well Whatever...) . Thom hasn't been blogging long and he already has a long list of followers. He is a super guy and I think he exudes a love of life. I'm overjoyed he thinks my blog is lovely. Thanks Thom, I appreciate it my friend.
Oh, I'm supposed to pass this along to fifteen others. My dear friends, if I visit you on a regular basis it's because I think your blog is lovely. If I'm there this award is truly yours as well. Grab it, post it, share it - you are all wonderful.
Sorry Thom, I hope you knew I was a rule breaker! :)

Thanks Rose!

*** Ruby Tuesday is here: Carletta's Captures.***

My friend Rose at Pics & Pieces passed this award on to me yesterday. Rose and I have been blogging friends for quite awhile now. I think we enjoy each other's blogs because we have so much in common. We both like quilts, cats, beautiful skies, old barns, fog, snow and most of all country roads to travel down hoping for the unexpected.
I just recently welcomed Rose into the ranks of Grandmotherhood! She recently became a Grandma to an adorable little girl. The joy that being a Grandma brings is just one more thing we share.
If you have some time I hope you'll go by and say hello. Her current Tuesday post has salsa and juicy red apples on it so be prepared to be hungry when you leave.
Thanks again Rose! You are a wonderful blogging friend.

When it comes to blogging friends I'd like to share another quick note. Many of you who participate in Sky Watch and My World know the Fishing Guy. Last week he had some heart surgery and is at home now. I hope you'll go by and say hello and wish him well.

Sunday Blessings: A Year of Blogging

This was the view from my back deck one day last week. I think it's beautiful; but then I love snow and hope this will be the first of many winter scenes in my yard this year.

While things in my real world have been cold this week, my friend Rose thinks my blog is HOT!

I want to thank Rose for sending this my way. Usually on Sundays I like to post a wordless one with maybe a picture of some little church I've found but today I'm the one who is blessed by all the friends who read my blog everyday. I have just passed my one year anniversary of blogging. It is the friends who come and enjoy my endeavors that keep me doing it everyday. To be awarded for something I love doing is just icing on the cake. There are others I need to thank for some of those awards that have come in recent weeks.

Thanks Fishing Guy!
(He was the first to leave a comment a year ago!)
Thanks Paz!
(A year later I'm still trying.)
Thanks Again Paz!
(I never thought I could take a decent photo so this one is really SWEET!)

If I've missed anybody please let me know cause I'd love to acknowledge it here. Please know I so appreciate you.
Special THANKS to all my readers this past year for reading and leaving comments - I love you all!

When I started this blog I included a quote that really seemed to say what I couldn't. After a year of blogging it still represents what I'm striving for.

To quote Peter London one more time, “What I am after as an artist is to see around the bend of my life as I have lived it to date, and catch a glimpse of what may lay ahead. Or above. Or beyond. Or beneath.”

Along Came A Spider....

"The means to gain happiness is to throw out from oneself like a spider in all directions an adhesive web of love, and to catch in it all that comes."

Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy

[Craver, this pretty much sums up how blogging affects me. Yes, this is short and sweet; but you know everyone comes for the photo! ;)]

Thank You Tara!

Thank You Akelamalu!

Handing Out Awards

Since I was posting the above image today for Wordless Wednesday I thought it might just be the perfect day to acknowledge some awards I was given from some very gracious blogging friends and "Hand Out" some of my own. You see how well that photo up there fits in!
Shelly passed along the You Make Me Smile Award saying I was an inspiration to her and I was just plain nice. That's enough of an award for me and I told her so but I thank her for her generous spirit.
I'm going to pass this along to Debbie and Judi. Debbie leaves me laughing out loud most days and Judi and I read a lot of the same blogs. I love it when she gets to one first so I can read the humorous comments she leaves others.

Shelly also presented me with the Super Commenter Award and then Quilly came right along behind her and bestowed it to me as well. I'm just not a look and go girl. I have to stop, smell the roses, and tell you what I think about them. So, yes, I comment A LOT! I'm passing this to Raven because she is here daily almost as soon as I post and to Fishing Guy who has been a loyal commenter since day one. Then, there's Rose. Rose and I have come to know that we both like the same simple things that make up rural life in America and we tell each other that almost on a daily basis about what we've each posted.

There were no rules with these so take them my friends, put them on your sidebar, pass them along or not, but know I appreciate each of you.

NOT DONE YET!
It seems when blog awards go around they all come at once! Twice this week I was notified of receiving the above award. My friends Fishing Guy and Debbie from NC graciously bestowed this one. I thank you both. I'm not so sure my blog is brilliant; but I do hope it is at least shiny!

This is one of those awards that always comes with rules. I'm breaking the rules and will list for you some blogs I sincerely think really are brilliant. I would not put myself in the same league as these. My blog is what it is and I do thank Fishing Guy and Debbie for the nod to brilliant and will continue to strive toward that endeavor.
The following list are blogs that I believe truly warrent the brilliant label.
For excellence in writing:
For excellence in photography:
I hope the bloggers listed will take the award and post it (if they like ) without feeling the need to pass it along. All of you are indeed an inspiration to me and I wanted most of all to share your sites with others.

Awards from Wonderful Blogging Friends

Last Wednesday I was given this wonderful award by Sandy of I Beati. She created awards for some of the blogs she reads. Her friend Mary helped her in the design. I love this rose on a keyboard. How neat is that! She states people blog for different reasons and read for different reasons. Sandi says she reads for "education, perspective, beauty and creativity and sheer enjoyment." I was on a list of some wonderful blogs and I'm honored to be listed with so many really talented people. Sandi is a transplanted Mountaineer living in Florida. She just recently found my blog so I am especially honored that she wanted to give me the award. I'm glad my blog provides her with scenes of a faraway home she sometimes misses. Thanks Sandy. It's nice to be appreciated.

On Friday I received an award from Mary of Work of the Poet and Answers To The Questions She has bestowed this lovely statue which is called the "Arte y Pico " award. It was created to be given to bloggers who inspire others with their creative energy and talents no matter whether it be in the form of writing, artwork, design, interesting material, or contributions to the blogger community. Again, I was listed with so many more talented people than I that I'm not sure I'm deserving. However Mary, I do appreciate that you enjoy my blog and find it worthwhile.

**It should be noted here I was working on this post when I found a comment on my blog from fellow blogger Raven of Raven's Nest. What did she have to tell me today? Can you guess? Raven was bestowing this very same award to me. (Boy I sure hope my summer hat still fits my head after this week!! ) Raven is such a kind and gentle soul. She is immensely talented. Her writing and poetry and insight into everyday life is amazing. Thank you Raven. I so appreciate you.

Now the rules say I need to pass this along to five people or in this case maybe it's ten people. I'm going to break the rules here for now and think about the daunting task of just who I should pass this along to. I did however want to acknowledge these wonderful gestures of some very wonderful blogging friends before time passed away too quickly.

Thanks again Sandy, Mary, and Raven!!!
