She kept look all around her while she took a little rest.
Satisfied with her surroundings she soon settled on a more comfortable position.
She isn't alone in our little neck of the woods. Mr. Red-belly often comes for suet as well.

That is such a lovely bird!
Gorgeous captures Carletta - oh to have the flexibility shown with her head swivels!! Thanks for sharing these charming shots.
Gorgeous Red-bellied, Carletta. I especially love that second one when she has her neck craned around.... ha
Hugs,
Betsy
A good story about your woodpeckers. Amazing how strong their tails are.
The first two shots look as though she is sitting on her rump...so cute...Obviously she likes visiting you as she seems very comfortable.....Beautiful photos.....
Wonderful images of this beautiful bird, Carletta.
My favorite one is bottom photo where she is pecking at the suet.
Happy Macro Monday
she's just beautiful. :)
Oh wow! Isn't she gorgeous. Terrific shots Carletta!
Wonderful shots! She's very beautiful.
Gorgeous bird. what a thrill to capture on camera
One of my favourite birds! She's a beauty.
Very nice!! You can see she is very alert and suspicious.
What beautiful shots you have taken of this gorgeous bird! I would love to find one of her feathers! xx
You have the best kind of visitors :)
Pretty bird!
She's so beautiful...in the middle photo, she looks as if she's waiting for you to put out the feed!
a great opportunity for fabulous photos of this beautiful bird Carla
still find it amazing seeing all the woodpeckers via WBW, it's really made me think about birds around the world and how diverse they are. (we don't have woodpeckers in Australia). funny photo of this one perched on it's bottom!
Great photos. She's beauty!
Oh I do love these images of the woodpecker. Especially the last one...the lighting that you captured and the brilliance of its crown make the image outstanding!!!
If you think you're feeling 'old' about your grand child starting school...17 tomorrow for Dillon, but my oldest grandson will be 24 in May!!!
she was probably waiting for you to leave so she could start pecking away in private!! :-) great captures!
Carletta, nice captures! They are gorgeous couple! Maybe you will see the juveniles too.
Carletta...Great captures. We are seeing more woodpeckers this year than ever before. Hope we get the BIG snow tonight and they are all out tomorrow when I can go out with the camera. It is SO cold here right now. genie
Nice pictures showing of "a small woodpecker." Wish you a good day :) Hanne Bente
Wonderful birds! I love woodpeckers.
I never knew that ducks were vain - but after my shots I'm not sure!
Cheers and thanks for linking to WBW.

j'en ai entendu deux hier lors de ma balade en hauteur...
Stunning shots there Carletta - congrats on a job well done.
These are marvelous photos of the woodpecker couple.
Cute scenario and captures of Miss Red-bellie Carletta.
I can not tell them apart.
Always enjoy seeing images of these chaps. They are quite lovely, but to our natural wood home, they do naughty things when they pair up for breeding, thinking this should be their home too;'(~
I've never seen a woodpecker sit quite like that. Fantastic shots! We have a pair of them at the feeders and they're among my favorite woodpeckers.
Brian, I think you and Nancy are the only two who noticed how unusual she is sitting. I had never seen this before so I was happy I got the shots.
Very cute bird.
So wonderful Carletta!
I love the red-bellied woodpeckers. We had a pair at one time, then I only saw the female for a couple of years. This year, I've seen a male only. You got some great shots.
So nice photos of this beautiful bird! Well done, Carletta!
Greetings Pia
this is such a lovely woodpecker. You caught them well too. :)
Wonderful shots of a beautiful woodpecker!
I guess she had tired feet from grasping for support all the time and thought she'd try something different!
This is what makes birding so interesting!
Love the red hairdo or is it a crash helmet?
Lovely birds pictures...
Pierre
They are such handsome birds!
