This lovely little fawn showed up in my yard yesterday morning. I saw it run across the meadow between me and my neighbor. I have waited all summer to see them emerge from the woods. Toward evening hubs was going outside to bring in the garbage cans from the street and as he passed the sunroom he whispered for me to join him. I knew he had seen something and I knew my camera was in the sunroom. Here the little thing was in my back yard less than 50 feet from my deck. It was a little nervous and noticed my presence when I stepped out on the deck but it let me take a couple of pictures before scampering off. As was the case in the early morning hours when I first saw it there was no Mama Doe to be seen. I sure hope nothing has happened to her and I hope my little visitor returns in the days ahead.
Yesterday morning I also watched this young squirrel try every way he could to get to my bird feeder. He is much smaller than this image makes him appear and I think he is one of the baby squirrels from spring. The morning was quite pleasant and my sunroom door was open. Heidi the cat sat looking out the door not making a sound when I looked up and found this little guy sitting on the deck railing. I got this best of three shots before he discovered me and ran off to a nearby tree. I had seen him earlier 'steal' a walnut and start stripping it. I'm guessing that's a crumb laying at his feet.

Have a terrific weekend.
What a sweet fawn!
Those are two things I miss from America--deer and squirrels.
We always go for a drive near our area because there are so many deer. Lovely captures Carleta.
My critter post, have a nice weekend!
Sweet shots. I love the youngsters best.
What a nice post and beautiful photos!
Adorable, both of them. Wonderful captures:)
Carletta, I just love the baby deer. They are so adorable with their cute little spots. Wonderful photos of the deer and the squirrel.
Been too long since I've visited. Gorgeous photos as always. I saw my first skunks yesterday night, but no deer in my yard yet and probably never. Not seeing squirrels much either.
Can't believe how quickly your grandchildren are growing. They are beautiful!
Aww!Beautiful - it's always worrying when you never know for sure what has happened or is going on. I hope this little one is okay:-)
That's a good looking fawn; I expect mama was not too far away! You got a good shot of him and the squirrel!
Both of these portraits are wonderful, but I really like the picture of the fawn.
Fawns are just so cute! Wouldn't you love to pet one?
Wow - that fawn is so lovely! And what a great capture of the squirrel too.
Beautiful animals.
Regards!
Both of your little visitors are adorable. The fawn was probably curious even though mama had told him not to wander off.
You know I love that little squirrel. I have only seen a couple of young ones lately and they were moving too fast for photos.
Love the little fawn, Carletta... Great photo.. Wow.
Hugs,
Betsy
These are adorable....both made me grin.
BTW, check out some of my recent posts on barn quilts. I know you've been interested in them.
That little deer is so cute. S/he looks like s/he's on high alert.
Your yard is just a little piece of heaven! And your pictures do it justice. The fawn looks so wide-eyed and surprised at the big wide world! I hope the mama is OK!
Real happy you captured these babies so that you could share them with us. I always feel such sightings are such a precious gift.
The fawn is so photogenic! I love watching young animals this time of year when they are nearing adulthood but are often so playful still.
Great captures! Lacey stands like the fawn when something catches her attention.
