Weekend Reflections: Cattails

(enlarge for best detail)
These were taken last week. We actually had 72 degree weather yesterday so the snow is long gone. Yeah!!
I liked how the cattails were reflected in the water along the shoreline.
This was a much closer shot and when I downloaded the photos of that day I was totally surprised. It looks like I was looking through glass. It reminds me of looking through a glass shower door, you know, the kind that you can never seem to get clean. :)

You described the second one just perfect--like looking through a shower door.

Nice shots.

Great ones! I tried to take a cattail reflection recently but the picture was no good - I like yours much better :) I like the second one too, ripples make stuff look pretty cool. 72? Lucky!

That last photo looks like artwork.

This why I like reflections on water. A slight change in wind or something else and you get a whole new wonderful look. These are great.

Gorgeous reflections Carletta I still am glad I am not in all that snow but you certainly do have great beauty around you!

Your reflections are stunning, the little icy patch in the first one adds additional interest. I'm very familiar with those darn shower doors! Ha-ha!

they're both so pretty
one is so clear and the other has incredible texture

LOL about the shower doors, I scrub mine like crazy and they still look grimy

The first shot is a nice one but the second is a work of art -- way better.

Thanks for stopping by. Thinking in B&W is thinking about forms, textures and tones, about light and shadows without the distraction of color.

Here's a quote for you: "If you go to some distant hill and look out across the expanse and see the play of light on the fields or hills, and see the patterns of grasses or the glisten of the backlit road that cuts to the horizon, you are seeing in black and white." Richard Olsenius in "National Geographic Field Guide -- Digital Black and White with film techniques explained." Hefty title and a good little book. I borrowed it from the public library.

Both pictures are nice, but that second one is great. The pattern in the water is quite a scene.

Both are lovely reflections but I especially like the second one. Your description of the glass shower door is perfect.
