Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

***Today's Flowers post is at Carletta's Captures ***

Happy Birthday
Dr. Seuss!

"You'd be surprised how many ways
I change on different colored days."

Dr. Seuss (1904 - 1991) was the author of My Many Colored Days. A picture book about color, feelings and moods. In the book each day is described in terms of a particular color, which in turn is associated with specific emotions. Do you think Monday is a happy pink day or a quiet green day or just plain old blue?
Oh my it's neither I tell you.
Listen closely to what I have to say.
It's really and truly
Mellow Yellow Monday!

HBD Dr Seuss. Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat...so many classics. I think Monday is any color that suits your needs. Some days blue, somedays green, somedays yellow. I just don't think it's an ever changing color as is our being :)

I received my last Dr. Suess book at the age of 37 when I graduated from college. It was (I know you know), Oh The Places You Can Go.

This is National Reading Week and I am missing all the activities we'd be doing if I had a classroom! One year my students made their very own, "The Paper Bag Princess," big book. Written by Robert Munch and illustrated by Ms. Amsden's 5th grade class.

I kept it for years and then it got destroyed in a classroom flood. That was the most awesome book.

I need to go back to teacing.

Thanks for reminding us that today is Dr. Seuss' birthday. I think my children knew every word of every Dr. Seuss book we owned before they started school.

I didn't know it was his birthday! I should have his books memorized but alas, I don't. Great post...

I have something for you at my blog.

Hi!
I love Dr. Seuss books even now. The kids at school today had Green Eggs and Ham for breakfast. They were looking at the eggs kind of funny, but they did eat them! Thanks for stopping by my place. Have a great evening!

Oh ... how did I miss this??? Methinks I celebrated his birthday last year but too many things are dropping through the cracks currently. I love Dr. Seuss and Bill Peet too! I played Monday but am just getting around to visit today.
Hugs and blessings,
