The eight mourning doves must have known the change was coming as they congregated in the massive oak tree under partly pastel colored skies.
The white tops of some clouds gave the impression of vanilla ice cream cones.
The dark clouds began to swirl trying to swallow all the blue and white that remained. The 'angel' couldn't hold back the darkness.

Very beautiful pictures for a SWF!Have a nice weekend!
A large change from No. 1 to No. 4 - the birds seem always to know when there is a weather-change coming.
excellent photos, the first one with the birds in the trees is exceptional.
Have a great weekend!

I don't know how birds know when the weather is changing for the worst...but they sure do. Lovely shots, Carletta.

Super shots, Carletta! and such a great variety, too. Love the contrasts! Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!
Watching an approaching storm is always exciting, Beautiful shots, Carletta! Happy SWF. :)
Beautiful storm sequence and I love how you caught the birds congregating in the tree.
I really enjoyed the progression of these storm-watching photos. The patterns of the branches and clouds is dramatic.
Carletta: What a neat view of the doves in the tree. I thought the shape told me that before reading. Maybe they are headed North.
Mourning Doves are always nice to see. Nice photos all.

Wonder prose and photos. :D
Lovely captured series, Carletta.
Happy weekend.
The pastels in the top are so soft to the ominous greys just show you how the sky changes.
Fine photography Carletta & I admire the way you put your words together - like a poem! So Pretty & Sweet!
What an interesting sequence of pictures! You had quite a change in the sky.
These are very, very nice.
Gorgeous series of shots! Perfect words to go with them!
The 'angel' couldn't hold back the darkness.
At least you tried.
Some dark and heavy clouds! Beautiful series of shots!
I wonder if birds can sense a storm coming..The squirrels always leave the yard...beautiful photos..
Looks like we had about the same kind of skies...we even had some snow flurries this afternoon.
Beautiful shot of the mourning doves, they are a beautiful bird.

Love the doves in the tree peeking thru to the clouds
You did a very nice follow up ! I almost can hear the storm in the last picture !
Carletta, it's a wonderful sequence with the sky transformation before the storm (I like so much storms!).
Happy Sky Watch!
Thunder here now.
I like the way the photos captured the approaching storm.
Great, dramatic sky story, Carletta, wonderful shots of the storm clouds. I love a turbulent, interesting sky.
You've caught some impressive storm clouds there, and I also enjoyed the one with the birds. Great photos! Thank you so much for stopping by my SWF post and leaving such nice comments. Always nice to see you.
That's a very dramatic sky Carletta!!
That's really neat how you doncumented the storm in photos and words, I felt like I was there watching it unfold!
p.s. I've never meet an aquarian (including my mom) who wasn't a great person to know, so there ya go!

What a lovely series Carletta - with such variety too.
Oh such wonderful pictures following the beginning of the storm. The first and the third photo are equally stunning but for different reasons. The tranguility in the first and the drama in the third.
