Raven's Saturday Wordzzle

I haven't played Raven's Wordzzle for quite some time. I saw that she was back posting yesterday after a week's absence. In her words she is climbing out of the hole she has been in and I want her to know I have missed her a great deal. No literary genius here Raven, just a little support for a dear blogging friend - YOU. Welcome back.

And now, here's my ten word offering for this week:

Shoveling snow and ice off the steps and sidewalks wasn’t exactly Crabby’s idea of fun. Yet, it was a necessity if he wanted to remain hmmm….what was that geometry term, oh yeah, perpendicular to the sidewalk. Besides he needed a path to the mailbox. A good forty-five minutes later on this cold and snowy Saturday morning Crabby found his mailbox overflowing.
Inside were his Netflix movies for the week, his Book of the Month club selection of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy in time for Monday’s Sci-fi club meeting, the ever present monthly mortgage bill, and the New York Times with a front page headline about that skunk of a man who had had such a flagrant disregard for other people’s monies. Crabby guessed the story must be true. After all, here it was in the Times!

And here's my mini challenge:

Crabby’s wife could be pragmatic on this Saturday morning and get busy doing a couple of loads of laundry that desperately needed done. She could even mix up a nice chef salad that she would later sprinkle with safflower oil and serve to Crabby for lunch. Or, she could sit in the lounge chair with her eyes closed and listen to her CD of Gregorian chants. After all, the Benedictine monks of Santo Domingo believed the chants could inspire calm and serenity. One thing she was certain of – she didn’t need a crystal ball to tell her which would be preferable.

Great return. Glad to have you back in the writing group.
I always love stories that people tie together.
Loved the way you used perpe4ndicular. I could just see the poor guy sliding and becoming horizontal.

Well of course it must be true if it was in the Times! (wink)

I'm playing catch-up! Your "Stillness & Unfurling" photos are wonderful. It's always fun to read the wordzles, although I haven't been able to spend as much time as I'd like lately visiting and reading.
Happy weekend ;)

Loved the compact writing and the touch of irony in both stories.

Feels like a Wordzzle reunion!!!
