Saturday I stopped by the park that sits on the Ohio River where I took the cabin photo from yesterday's post. I glanced down the river and wondered what I was seeing.
I drove my car and parked where I could get a little better look. It was lightly snowing and very cold but the geese seemed to be enjoying themselves as they swam out about halfway and then swam back toward shore. Be sure to enlarge this one to see the better detail.

Nice pictures, and thanks for your comment on my post. Have a wonderful
Wednesday
Love the bottom one, Carletta. I clicked to enlarge it, as you suggested. I could even see the seedpods on the tree!
I love when they fly over in formation
Fantastic shot! They do seem happy. and The tree looks like it is decorated for the holidays too!
It seems geese just like being in the water no matter the weather, huh? Nice shot! :-)
What a neat picture. Good thing you decided to take a better look. What kind of tree is that with the round fruits. Not Christmas decorations--LOL. MB
Somehow you can just never get enough geese pictures. They are always around and willing to pose. The tree in your photo looks like a Sycamore.
Happy WW.
Interesting pattern. Almost like they've retained their "v-shaped" ranking status in the water ... but that's geese. Still, birds of a feather flock together.
Beautiful photos. It's always interesting to see the contrast in climate and landscape in different countries.
Brrrrr....it makes my toes cold!
wow! excellent capture, lots of geese, I love it, so pretty..
You have a very great location, indeed! I would surely take walks in the park if I could see a wonderful sight like this.
My entry for Watery Wednesday is posted here. Happy mid-week!
You always show West Virginia to be a very beautiful State. Great photos!
Doesn't seem much like swimming weather! They must have some heavy duty down!
Carletta: That was such a real photo I could almost feel the geese honking, great job.
Nice shots - I can almost hear the honking! That's one thing about those geese, they never go anywhere quietly!!
Hi Carletta, this was a nice peaceful rest stop, watching the geese while it was snowing. I almost felt rested peeking in on them.
I liked your Ruby Tuesday Wooden Carrollers. Happy Rubby Tuesday and thank you for checking out my old red truck.
..
Oh, Carletta! I love the sound effects! I look at those geese and all I can think is BRR-RRR-rrr--it is cold out here!
They all wear down jackets that are waterproof. You could swim in the cold water if you had a suit like that. Thanks for braving the elements to bring us pictures from the cold side. Pappy
Must be a cold swim, but I guess Geese don't mind :-) Lovely!
Sound effects too! Cool. I keep hoping some geese will fly by here but so far Hancock seems to be off their path. Interesting how they even seem to swim in a formation of sorts.
I'm constantly amazed at how ducks can and will swim in such cold water, but as Jan (Murietta365) pointed out they have an extra layer of down that we don't have. LOL
Lovely to know the geese are somewhere, since they have left my area. I still see them flying over in the mornings, though.
And I love the sound effects!
Thanks for sharing.
This is a nice set of pictures. Thanks for telling me what kind of tree that was. I didn't know.
amazing birds, the geese... and well captured here.
Yes, that last picture is my favourite too! Great picture!
I like how you demonstrated that if something grabs your attention, its a world worth exploring a little closer. Happy Holidays.
It's always nice to catch some waterfowl..I find them beautiful...
Good shots and thanks for your comment on my new blog, much appreciated.
Hi!
Those are some brave Geese. It looks really cold there. And are those Buck Eyes on that tree? Thanks for stopping by my place.
Sherrie
SWo that's where our geese went. Nice pictures.
The sounds accompanying your photos are lovely; you have captured the sense of their presence so well. I love to hear geese in the late fall.
I love this and the recording your provided. ;-)

Quite a parade, and just in time for Watery Wednesday.
I like how you framed the trees around the water and geese, as if we're peeking at them. So serene and cozy.
Great shots!
