Here is my ten word offering for this week:
Katie hoped to one day be a famous author; but any fame would probably be posthumous. If it never happened it most likely would be because of the flagrant style of most of her recent written works. She worked seven days a week as a columnist for the local paper and tried to keep her writing within the professional boundaries her editor expected. Sometimes her colleagues thought she was just too far out there.
Katie’s greatest achievements had been when she wrote the entertainment column for the paper. One article about local Civil War Enactments and another about a promising up and coming clarinet player both earned her accolades. It seemed she was well on her way to a rewarding career.
More recently she covered a showing at the local art gallery of a Microwave Pyramid. The artist entitled it “Absent Without Leave.” Not liking or understanding it too well, Katie had remarked in her article that the title was probably more about the mindset of the artist than the piece itself. That didn’t set well with the Editor and Chief at all especially since his wife served on the board of the gallery. Katie hadn’t any regard for protocol as to how one would expect to be dressed on the opening night of the exhibit either. She showed up in blue jeans and sat comfortably all evening eating cheese and crackers and sipping wine.
Here is my five word offering - in one sentence:
The thermometer might have said it was a comfortable 72 degrees in the sanctuary but a chill came over the congregation when the visiting evangelical leader without any sugar coated sentiments announced the local tractor pull, in which many participated, was a masquerade for heathens!

Great job. I especially like the one sentence mini-challenge - That is hard to do. congratulations.
Superlative! The second one made me laugh. Well, so did the first, it was so clever. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Love the duck photos. Mallard Convention made me laugh too. That's three times in the space of just a few minutes...
You forgot Mr. Linky, though.
The truck pull is a masquerade for heathens! Say it isn't so! LOL! Great stories, Carletta!
Oh THAT Pastor will be out on his ear! You don't mess with people's tractor pulls!
Great stories! I did not play this week...
You work those words in so nicely.
