"Show Me..." - Welcome To My Kitchen

Day two of Robert's "Show Me..." photo project was to post a picture centered around something in your kitchen. My favorite part of my kitchen is the glass door cabinets above.
I wasn't sure when I first moved in if I would like them. I'm just a cram things in and shut the door kind of girl and with these you have to be neat. I've come to like them a lot. I have put some of my most precious glass items on the shelves.
If you open the doors on the left you can see a glass dessert bowl set on the top shelf that my Mom's good friend gave me when I got married. Some of you will remember my Mickey Mouse cup from Project Black. The red bowl was given to me by my Grandpa when I was still young enough not to appreciate it so much but it has become one of my favorite possessions.
In the left side of the cabinet is a plate that is a Warren Kimble design that I picked up for under five dollars and didn't know until later it was a Kimble and a great deal. The compote dish is a twin to the one you saw in the left cabinet. They look a lot like carnival glass but I don't think they are. The swirled glass collection on the middle shelf is from Scotland. My Hubs used to travel to a submarine base there and would bring them back to me from his trips. In the bottom shelf is a glass coke bottle my brother found out hunting last fall. It is stamped on the bottom with my hometown's name. When I was very young there was a bottling company in the town where we grew up. It has been gone probably fifty years. It was quite a find that he knew I would appreciate.
A larger look of that end of the kitchen.
Look closely. I made chocolate chip cookies and a pot of fresh coffee for your visit.
Thanks so much for visiting today.

I love your collection. I've always thought that kind of cabinet is lovely and it's a nice way to display treasures. Nice to read the stories of what makes each item precious to you. Thanks for the coffee and cookies too. I love chocolate chip. I haven't done either of my posts yet. Sluggish day.

How beautiful. My mother had a bowl very much like the one your grandpa gave you and now it's mine.

The cookies... oh heaven!

I'm not surprised your kitchen is so warm and cozy, everything about you is welcoming.

And the smell of freshly baked cookies and coffee just made my day.

The Zinger and iced-tea were good, but now chocolate chip cookies and coffee?! Man, I wish more than ever that this computer had an olfactory card!

The photos are beautiful, as usual!

What a wonderful visit to your kitchen. As if the pictures of all the glassware in the nice cupboards wasn't enough, the cookies and coffee made me feel more than welcome! Nicely done. :)

Crack me up Carletta! I clicked on your post while I was eating a chocolate chip cookie, how very nice of your to bake for us. I was drinking a diet coke though - no coffee this late in the day. I really like the glass front cabinets, we just put one up out in my craft room this weekend - I've already put all of my vases for flowers away..yippie ;)

Since there are only two cups, I'll have to assume it's just you and me for coffee and cookies! LOL

In all seriousness, awesome post, Carletta! Love your kitchen and your collection. Very neat.
