Camera Critters: Flying Honkers

I had seen these guys coming from a great distance and thought they had gone in a different direction when there they were in front of me. I literally had to stop the truck, jump out and quickly snap a couple of pictures. I can't explain the difference in sky color other than the direction I was shooting.
Oh, How I Wish I Could Fly!

Some look like they are flying backwards. :) same effect as watching car tires. I have to much time on my hands?

Any time I see these geese, I wish I could ride on one of their backs for just one season even. I seen several of these yesterday!

I have a friend who likes to tell the same jokes over and over. If he saw these geese flying over he would say

"When geese fly in a V shape, one side of the V is always longer than the other. Do you know why?"

His answer:
"because there are more geese on that side" :)

Great geese shots, it's always an impressive sight, well done for capturing it. We get quite a lot of geese at our local park, and it's good fun feeding them, especially when they chase you!

I am still waiting to see ours this year.

Very good shots! When geese start migrating it's getting colder! We had some light frost last night.
have a nice weekend.

Yay, another person who stops for pictures. I did that several times last night. *lol* Great shots. It's amazing how the sky can look so different from one frame to the other.

Hi Carletta! Thank you for all your congrats on my excitement. I don't know what is "around the bend" but I know it will be something artistic. I tried once to get a photo like this & it was very hard. Mine did not turn out as well as your's did. I think there is something about taking a photo in a matter of seconds and the colors change just a shade for some strange reason.

Carletta: How I love the "V's" of the geese in the air. You captured them wonderfully.
I left you an award on my site yesterday.

One of my favorite things about summer ending is the geese that fly over our house every day. I LOVE to hear them "honk". Fabulous shots Carletta!!

Ah, those v-formations of autumn - I miss them! Don't get them in Florida really, not like I did when I lived on Long Island.

I get that same color change phenomena when I switch angles photographing the ocean. Color is influenced by water vapor and the angle of sunlight, so what direction one is facing can make a great difference. In any case, both photos are lovely.

That's pretty nice to watch them fly!

very clever capture!

That is impressive. I don't have a camera that can capture birds in flight decently.

I'm inviting you to Emerald Sundays starting next Sunday. I hope you can join me.

Wonderful shots! I should have joined camera critters with what I posted last night, but didn't think of it.

Very nice photo of the geese. They're congregating here but only flying from pond to pond. Not heading southward yet.
