It's time for another Camera Critters post. Our charming host is Misty of Misty's Musings where her "dogs keep her sane." Each week we post photos of our favorite camera critters. You just never know what you will find! To check out other participants playing this week or to sign up and join in the fun yourself click on the icon to the left and tell Misty Carletta sent you.
I found this hawk the same day I was discovering covered bridges and quilt barns. As we rounded a bend on the two lane rural road a new mown field of hay was to the right and we could see the hawk sitting near the road. I was sure as we pulled to a stop he would fly away. Yet he stayed and rather calmly let me take pictures. Seems he had a bit of unknown prey to protect.

I am green, green, green with envy. I have been asking the universe to send me a hawk. Well, maybe they have sent me one through you. BEAUTIFUL photos and such a wonderful experience too.
Oh how lucky you are! This is wonderful. I am so glad you got to record it. (Not as glad as I would be if it happened to me, mind you, but happy anyway).
Beautiful and lucky catch!

I bet you had fun while you took these 'coz it showed in your post.

These are awesome shots Carletta. Hawks are so cool, and they do love to talk.

Thanks for visiting The Gardener Side
sounds like him in background sk
What a thrill it must have been to capture these photos!
You are very lucky. I like to see them come diving out of the sky to catch their prey. When I was a kid we tried to kill all of them because they were after our chickens all the time.
Whoa... nice capture on that one!
I joined Camera Critters, too! HERE is where I posted my entry. Happy weekends!
Lucky girl! I can't get close enough to a hawk to get a good shot.
Very Cool pictures!

This is a wonderful series of photos! I very much enjoyed the story of how you captured these images, too.
What a thing to see in person..
Beautiful photos and action shots of the hawk - I love those feathered legs. It would have been thrilling to see - Fantastic sighting!
What an amazing series. I wonder if the hawk in the tree was a youngster getting hunting lessons? I love hawks, we have Cooper's hawks around here and I get to see them fly through but they rarely pose for me.
thats so wonderful, perfectly captured with your camera, thanks for sharing and for the visit too..
Sometimes I will pull over just to watch a hawk soar and glide over the fields near my house. They are so beautiful.
Fantastic capture!
You have great patience to obtain this shots!

Wow!!! These are an impressive series of shots! I never am able to get good close-ups like these of wild birds. And the captions are a great touch in relating the series of events :)
Those are wonderful series of shots. It's great how you were able to observe that hawk as it communicates with his friend/mate.
Wow! Magnificent captures.
Great photos. Congratulations.
Gorgeous big hawk! I love it! I never see large magnificent birds. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right places.
BTW, totally impressed with your garden bounty. That's awesome!
Amazing that the hawk let you get so close! Thanks for sharing the story as well as the photos.
