Project Black: Take Seven

Deer Silhouette

Last Friday while taking the barn pictures I passed many of these as well as other road signs. I kept thinking I should stop and take at least one photo. Near the end of the drive I finally gave in and found a safe spot to pull off and just took one. This is the result. Here in rural West Virginia these signs are prevalent in areas where the deer population is the greatest. It helps warn drivers when they are in areas where it is likely to see deer crossing the highway.

Regular readers know I probably need one of these for my yard! (See here.)

Project Black is hosted by Anna at Anna Carson Photography.

I love this. I keep wishing I'd get deer - well, at least one - in my yard but it's much too developed, I think. That said, I did see the silhouette of one on the highway side of the fence in my back yard last week. I was too slow with my camera to catch it, though... and then I worried that it would get itself hit by a car.

This a great shot. Nice angle on it.

I love how we don't pay much attention to black as it's usually in the background and then when we use it in silhouette, the black stands out so clearly.

Great shot! Sometimes one shot is all you need... you nailed it perfectly :-)

I love how you had to find a way to park and get out quick to get this. Hearing the story behind the picture makes these projects all the more fun.

Carletta, are these West Virginia deer? :)

The trouble with deer is they can't read and they tend to cross whenever and where ever they please. Pappy

The sign made a really nice photo. I love Pappy's comment!

We have these signs here too and usually in known deer crossing areas and it does help keep a lot of deer from being killed.

Love the picture-but I agree with Pappy-deer need to learn to read!!

Funny we both had blackberries on our mind!

Carletta: The only thing I've always wonder is who taught the deer to read the sign and cross at that spot. I guess that's why they changed to a picture instead of writing deer crossing. LOL

I'm so frustrated! The photo will not open for me... this happened on the last blog I was on too. I'm sure I know what kind of sign it is - as we have them all over the place too - but I just KNOW you made it artistic and I wanna SEE it - so I'll be back! In the meantime... I really enjoyed LISTENING to Signs while I waited for it to try to load! I LOVE that song!

Ooh! You have just given me an idea for a picture of my own, and I'm SO going to steal the idea that you gave me.

Or something. :)

Very clear picture with a great angle. Love it!

well done for taking this photo! :)
we mainly have roe deer here and they tend to cross the roads at the most inappropriate times...

Great capture Carletta! - I think a lot of us could use this in their yards - I know I could - all my lilies are munched to the ground :)

I know you need a sign like this for your yard, Carletta! And thanks for the matching music! :)

Perfect music -- even if it did about scare me off the couch! I have been looking at signs, too, but I never think of it in convenient places to stop. I'm glad you got one.

Good one! I might have missed the black there. You know, seeing without seeing.
