"Oh Say Can You See..."

National Flag Day 2008

I have to send a big thank you out to Mary who made mention on her post Thursday afternoon that Flag Day was this Saturday. Thanks Mary for the timely reminder.

Just by chance I had taken this photo last Sunday. The flag flies over the Sears store at our local mall.

Little Red Berries

Do I see a fairy on that iris?

The clematis bloomed this week.

It looks good from the front....

....and from the back!

What a wonderful salute to the flag! Happy Flag Day! Such pretty flowers - and I loved the little "fairy."

I LOOOOVE that song! It's one of my favorites! And YES, today IS Flag Day -- and also my brother's birthday. He would have been 60. And he loved and honored that flag like NOBODY's business! He could not stand to see a tattered flag on display. He would have saluted THAT one!!!

Your berries are RED already? Ours are still green. Luz keeps picking them - there won't be any left to turn red! She's upset because the BIRDS are going to eat them all - she thinks SHE should - but I keep telling her NO! WE don't eat THOSE!!! Oy!

Your clematis is flat out gorgeous!!!

Honnestly, I prefer your flowers by far ! In European countries most of the people don't even have a flag at home and when it's shown it is mostly for football games (soccer) a flag day doesn't exist !

I have mention only today that I did not see as many Flags flying in SW this week and perhaps we should have a flag day.. I then came here.. Wow..
I love to see flags flying and I really think the US of A dose it better than anyone...

I read your comment about my new post... I have a link for you there now. You have seen it before.. in fact you commented. It dose look different. I will be showing more from here this week as well

Very nicely done!

I had forgotten it was flag day and I had a picture I could use that I took...maybe I will add it to my sidebar. It isn't near as nice as this one though! Love that intense blue sky.

Love the flag and the music. Our cherries are dropping like flies looking for the place where the skunk sprayed. It is a shame too as the tree has been dieing for 20 years and each year there are fewer and fewer cherries in the tree. I remember when it was a new tree and grew to be a real beauty and the blooms in the spring would stop a wedding.

Lovely post.

i hope this won't sound offending - it is by no means meant to be - but i don't suppose i'll ever understand the american obsession with the flag... the flowers are gorgeous, though :)

Beautiful!!!!

I stop by your blog just about every day...even if I don't leave a comment I always enjoy what you've posted. I didn't post very much for a few days because I was out helping people who got flooded and was just too tired when I got home to do very much on the computer. It's heck to get old and out of shape. :)
