Skywatch Friday

Afternoon Delight

The road meanders past acres and acres of farmland.
Suddenly I stop to gaze at the straw statues in the open field.
It's as if they are poised, ready to roll about when my eyes aren't looking.
I laugh knowing one roll would have them unfurling like cinnamon rolls.
Chuckling to myself it's time for me to roll on down the road to where the gravel drive points to home and the moon in the sky beckons me welcome as it glows in the clear blue afternoon sky.

The last one for me - the moon can be quite as beautiful by day as by night.

Carletta, here you are my friend ... and with so fantastic shots.

Well, I guess the one day I'll get a crash will be when you show a no good phot :)

This week I'm having a long weekend so I won´t be able to visit anybody, therefore I decided to skip SWF.

The pictures are nice. I like your writing. But I can't help but laugh at the title - Afternoon Delight. My wife used to love that song as a kid. Now as an adult when she hears it she says, "Oh my gosh. I had no idea it was about THAT!"

Love no. 1 & 2! :)

Such a clear blue sky. No worry about a wandering shower wetting the grass before it's baled.

A great Skywatch series.

Beautiful pictures. I love the many different skywatch pictures - but I do think my favorite one are the ones like these - clear vivid crystal clear blue skies. I just love the beauty of God's creation. Amazing!

Hi Carletta, you did make me smile with that gorgeous yellow flower, and that beautiful sky of yours! It's still raining here, I hope to get some sunshine and blue skies in France as of tomorrow! Great pictures, as always!

I'm voting for 1 and 4. I'm partial to round hay bales, and I love blue sky ... living in Seattle I see far too much gray :)

Ain't country living GREAT!? I was driving down the road the other day and passed a farm where up on hill sat probably about 40 rolls - all in a line. I wanted SO badly to stop and photograph it, but we had an appointment and were running late. I meant to go back later or the next day... but life got crazy. I guess I missed my chance. It woulda been a NEAT shot though! Great choice for today!

I was the first one here yesterday and I left a long chatty post about blues and greens and ... wahhh!

I love the photos, Carletta. Despite living in Hawaii, I sometimes get homesick and you have just awakened a few memories that taste sweet, but leave me just a little sad.

I love the second one - The tree is great.

for some reason i thought i'd left a comment here yesterday... perhaps i did something wrong or blogger had other ideas... never mind, i can repeat myself as we had another bleak grey day here, and bloody cold as well... like the sunny flower, this sky cheers me up and fills me with envy :)
beautiful shots!

Wonderful photographs. Your area looks much like ours!

The round bales are showing up here too, as the farmers get into hay making.

I have noticed that you are retired from teaching. I hope you are enjoying retirement as much as I am. It's unbelievable, but almost one full year in already.
