Skywatch: Throwback Thursday

Last week was a whirlwind weather wise in my little world. The above photo is the oak tree in my backyard after a 12+ inch wet snowfall. It was beautiful but not without problems. It started with a warm day and snowmelt from a previous storm. Then the rain started which led to a day's rain with subsequent flooding and the governor of WV calling a state of emergency. Then, the rain turned to snow and it piled up quickly.

Come evening the snow had stopped and this was the sunset in my front yard. A couple of hours later we found ourselves without any power and the generator we had wouldn't work. Luckily our gas fireplace was enough to stay warm through the night. The next day my Hubby took the generator apart and fixed it and we were good to go till the power was restored. Our community had been asked to conserve water as well.

The sky was a gorgeous brilliant blue for a few hours that morning in our wonderland world. It was hard not to just sit and stare at the beauty that surrounded us. I felt like I was looking at the set of a Frozen movie and Anna and Elsa and Olaf must certainly be just around the bend. Problems arise with any storm but the beauty I saw and experienced will stay with me a long time.

 Linking to Skywatch Friday

  6. Absolutely beautiful Carletta! Magical pictures. And I love your joyful attitude (a husband who can fix a generator probably helps a lot with that :)))!)

Did you see that movie with your granddaughters by any chance? (Mine are too grown-up, even if they lived close enough.) I'm betting your girls can sing 'Let it Go' beautifully!!!

  24. Hello, Just got home from a nice trip to Arkansas to celebrate George's birthday. I will blog about it tomorrow.

Now--it's time to start working in the yard, cleaning up all of the 'junk' from the ice storm. What a mess!!!

Hope you are doing well. Looks like you had a pretty bad storm too. I wrote about ours in my past Thursday blog post. I even mentioned that we need a generator.

Our storm was not nearly as pretty as yours though since we didn't get the pretty snow. We got JUST ICE and SLEET... Yuk...

    Hugs,
    Betsy
