Rurality: An Autumn Snow

"There is nothing in the world more beautiful than the forest clothed to it's very hollows in snow. It is the still ecstasy of nature, wherein every spray, every blade of grass, every spire of reed, every intricacy of twig, is clad with radiance."  ~ William Sharp

"The first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event."

  3. Awwww...what a magical DAY for it to fall on...11/12/13! It is absolutely beautiful. You captured the magic very well. I love the b&w image and also the color of the foliage dusted with snow. So beautiful. Sigh. Since moving from Dallas I doubt I will see snow again, unless I travel north for the winter.

  4. GAIL - IT ISN'T A BLACK AND WHITE IMAGE. I TOOK THIS JUST BEFORE SUNRISE. IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY AT THE SKY YOU CAN SEE JUST A HINT OF BLUE. :)

  5. WOW, I love those snowy shots, and that bit of dripping ice on the colorful fall leaf! I'm envious, we hardly ever get snow in Seattle, our climate is moderated by both the Pacific Ocean and Puget Sound, sigh. Thank you for coming by to share on Rurality Blog Hop #40!

  7. Nice shots. You can keep the snow on your side of the country. Today is 60 degrees, in Idaho. Our snow will be here soon enough.

  14. Beautiful pictures..isn't it a bit earlier than usual? It is a little cooler here today with some wind ... Last night the TV weather said "we will get the cold snap that the Northeast is getting, but here you add 40 degrees to the temperature."

  20. Snow is so magical - even to an adult who knows that at some point, it will have to be driven through. Love that first image especially.

  26. You've captured the first snowfall so well here! Each of these captures is masterfully done. I have a couple of my own snow pics that I leave up at home all year long. I also got a charge from that beautiful bokeh in the last image.
