This week I had a couple of lovely little house finches visit the backyard feeder. Mrs. Finch wasn't too keen on getting her picture taken but I'm hoping she'll change her mind once she's a little more comfortable.
I'll let the photos speak for themselves so click on the first and enjoy the slide show.

Terrific close-up! These are such cute little birds! I have a finch couple that visit regularly.
ReplyDeleteSO cute! love the plucky stance in the 2nd one. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, great to see!
ReplyDeleteHouse Fiches are a lovely looking species to have around Carletta. Your pictures do them justice. The second one looks a little like a young bird but I guess it's the wrong time of year and not knowing your precise location.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots. Very cute bird.
ReplyDeleteI have ID some house finches recently. I've just started to try to identify birds beyond the basic ones I do know by sight.
ReplyDeleteI love watching the finches in the spring
ReplyDeletethey are just delightful; the colourings really 'pretty' too
ReplyDeleteBeautiful birds and great photo and I really like the way they have their beaks full of food.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I wish that my close ups were awesome like yours. They are always amazing!

ReplyDeleteAren't we all, including the birds, so happy spring is finally here....
Happy sunshine days to you....
beautiful protraits of the fnches.
ReplyDeleteWonderful captures, Carletta!
ReplyDeleteYou've perhaps solved a mystery, Carletta. I got photos of some small birds that had the same brown "pinto" markings but they didn't have the red breast. Could they still be finches? Do you have a general purpose book you'd recommend for bird ID?
ReplyDeleteHope these cuties grow less suspicious of you. Would like to see more of them.
That was a fun slide show!
ReplyDeleteI think you did an excellent job with the close-ups.
ReplyDeleteOH they are all so wonderful - I love the little birds.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Carletta! I love birds, and am very fond of finches.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful little ones!
ReplyDeleteNice little bird - nice red hat!

Pretty!!!! I've seen them in Colorado when we lived there, but none here in South Texas.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Carletta. Oh, and LOVED your response in my comments yesterday about "is there any other kind of butter...real butter?" Touché
BAD 'Hair' DAY
Wish our house finches were so colourful! Wonderful shots Carletta.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the enthusiastic welcoming back! Your pictures are beautiful, as ever! I'm so glad you came and commented...I deleted everything when I deleted my blog and that included the blogs I followed....so I need everyone to come comment so that I can come visit! I remembered the two or three I had followed for years, and there were a few of you on there as followers, but the rest I need to find. Augh! At least I got rid of the zip file emails!
ReplyDeleteThe males are such a lovely colour.
ReplyDeleteThey're such pretty little birds. You captured them really well!
ReplyDeleteVery nice photos of those birds!
ReplyDeleteI think the mrs. looks very fine on the last one! I have never seen those in my garden!
Thanks for your comment! /Pia
Wonderful closeups of these pretty little birds. I've had a couple at my feeder the last few days. But they are too quick for me to get a picture.
