When I was growing up we always had forsythia bushes growing in the yard. My Mom still has a couple and I was lucky when we purchased our present home that there were three in the yard. It's always a game between me and my Mom to see who's bushes bloom first. Two of my bushes have been budding this week. Yesterday I was lucky to find one bud that had bloomed. When they are in full bloom I'll be out there snapping away!

neat! love the photo.
ReplyDeletePretty! I love the bright yellow of forsythias - a true sign of Spring. I think mine might be a while, yet.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! Congratulations on being first!
ReplyDeleteIt would be a welcome sight around here! Today is the first day of Spring, but it is VERY COLD out!
ReplyDeleteNeat...I always loved to see them start blooming because they are pretty and it means spring is near.
ReplyDeleteI love Forsythia also --and we do have some planted in our yard. But--nothing has bloomed up here yet... Can't wait to see those gorgeous yellow blossoms.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Betsy
Lovely shot, this forsythia has a real lemon yellow colour. Not too many people grow these plants where I live, although they are available in nurseries sometimes.
ReplyDeleteAh, spring has REALLY arrived where you are!
ReplyDeleteI too had forsythia growing in my childhood yard. Unfortunately, there is none here where I live now. I used to love to force the branches when I first moved out on my own and I would return home and clip some from my mom's bush!
ReplyDeleteThey do represent Spring to many of us don't they? They were in my grandmother's yard, my Mom's yard and I have them in my yard in the mountains.....I love bringing them inside.....sweet little flower...
ReplyDeleteForsythia hasn't started blooming here yet. I'm looking forward to it... sort of. While I do love a whole lot of things about spring, I am also intimidated by the daunting list of chores that awaits me outside.
ReplyDeleteI like how you singled this one out, instead of showing the whole bush from a distance. Very nice.
Beautiful photo and how lucky you are ^_^
ReplyDeleteNew England is into blooming Snow right now .
I need a forsythia bush...mom always had one, too. And love your name for them....this shot is just so lovely.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely photo Carletta. I hope our forsythia will be blooming soon.
ReplyDeleteSo cheerful! Love the detail! A sure sign of spring! xx
ReplyDeleteMy yellow bell is not doing a thing yet...I'm hoping the drought didn't get it.
ReplyDeleteCertainly a beautiful brilliant color. I found some lily shoots today in a very sheltered area. The low over night was minus 14 C(plus 3 F)
ReplyDeleteYes! Spring's lemon icing! Love that! You always write to most interesting comments on my blog posts! I was just enjoying again what you had to say on my Girl's Day Out...and when I read what you said on my latest post, I remembered those catalogs too! My how exciting it was every fall, partly because of those catalogs, too! We'd get new school clothes and shoes, and have new programs to watch, and would start thinking about the holidays long before they came. The only "negative" part was having to go back to school! :-)
ReplyDeleteI had two bushes in my Illinois home and when we moved here I got a bush for mothers day :) My cousin this summer gave me about 10 that she had dug up and replanted, they're still pretty small yet but I can't wait until they are big and in full bloom.
ReplyDeleteI like your description of forsythia as "Spring's Lemon Icing". We also have a few stray blooms, but nothing like the full blooms we saw once we got off the Plateau the other day.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photo! They won't be blooming for awhile here.
ReplyDeleteMy forsythia isn't even thinking about budding out yet! :( I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog in the Rurality Blog Hop!

Ho how wonderful, we are to expect snow this Easter.
ReplyDeleteHow pretty! We have a few things blooming but a big snow and ice storm is coming today. I'm afraid everything is going to freeze.
ReplyDeletenice shot. I do love forsythia.
ReplyDeleteSuch cheerful uplifting colour - much better than white, white, white snow :)
ReplyDeleteHello Carletta - trust you are well.
Gorgeous Carletta!!! OH, and do tell.......where or how do you get the mitten bird feeder in the post below. I would LOVE to have one myself.
ReplyDeleteWonderful how you isolated the single blossom! So lovely!
ReplyDeleteOh lovely. Mine are covered in snow, no blooms yet :(
ReplyDeleteHello back again, thank you for correcting me on TF. I was getting a little ahead of myself there. Lesson learned, don't try and do posts in the early hours of the morning when I am half asleep :)
ReplyDeleteVad härligt att ha blommor ute. Här får vi ha våra inne än massor av snö och kyla har vi ute i stället.
ReplyDeleteHa en fin helg

I love spring flowers and you photographed this very well!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty -- in our family they are called "ForCynthia" because they would bloom around our daughter's birthday. (Still do, we're just not there to see them). Thanks for the beauty and the memories. Yay for Spring!!
ReplyDeleteLovely...
ReplyDeletea cheerful bloom.
ReplyDeleteColeus
And I perfectly understand why!!! The forsythia in my yard is not blooming yet, but the second lot of twigs I brought inside is about done. I am debating bringing more inside, or waiting...
