This barn literally sits beside a very rural road with no way to pull off. I was shooting from the passenger seat across my husband so I wasn't able to get the whole barn. I concentrated on the barn quilt which most of you know is one of my favorite things to spot. I love the old weathered wood as well.
For those of you who find the occasional vintage car or truck or tractor inside the old barns you find to photograph Sammy says that cars in barns are perfectly normal!

A closeup of the barn quilt.
On the whimsical side for you this week is the barn that belongs to my Grandson Sammy who will be two in November. He loves putting the animals in and taking them out over and over again. For those of you who find the occasional vintage car or truck or tractor inside the old barns you find to photograph Sammy says that cars in barns are perfectly normal!
He says it with a smile!
Hope you've enjoyed mine and Sammy's selections this week.Linking to Tricia's Barn Charm.
I love those quilt barns - and I loved playing with barns as a kid, too!
ReplyDeleteI love to come upon a barn quilt...they are so fun!! Your grandson is a cutie!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful barn with that amazing quilt!
ReplyDeleteYour grandson is adorable!
I love your header and saying...
The quilt barn is wonderful - glad you were able to catch it! And that smile on the little guy is priceless!
ReplyDeleteIt is such fun being a grandmother...I have 6, but the redhead has to be the cutest kid ever. He LOVE to have his picture taken...a real ham. Love you "flu by" barn. At least you got the most important part...the quilt. I have yet to capture a quilt barn. I have to say I am a bit jealous. Enjoy your summer days...it is all going to come to an end very soon. Don't know if I am ready. genie
ReplyDeleteLove the barn and the barn quilt, but your grandson's smile steals the show!
ReplyDeleteSammy is a handsome lad. If Sammy - with those pretty blue eyes - says it's normal, then who would argue...especially if he's smiling.
ReplyDeleteWhimsical is the key word for he old barn. Extremely weathered and old wood. i would think this wood never saw any paint.
ReplyDeletesuch a cutie! my favorite thing to play with as a kid was my barn and farm set, complete w/ tractor and hay wagon. :)
ReplyDeleteyou did really well shooting across hubby to get these shots! :)
You found a great old barn and the quilt is in such good condition! I like the addition of Sammy's barn - and he's adorable!
ReplyDeleteHi Carletta
ReplyDeleteYou will have to excuse my complete ignorance and I should have asked the question before.
What is a Quilt barn? Where did this all start from? The quilt parts all look new or are they re-painted often? This quilt barn thing must have a history???
We have no such things here in Australia - barns yes, but quilts painted on them, no!
Young grandson, Sammy, sure is a cute little bloke. He will woo the young "femmes" as he gets older.
I hope he is an 'outdoor' playing kid. Maybe on your property get him a pony? Aren't I good at spending other peoples money?? ha ha.
Cheers
Colin (Brisbane.Australia)
Weather report: The typical August just didn't appear for 2012, and it may stay away for good. Incredible weather, now need some steady rain in case of bushfires.
You are encouraging him to love barns just like you. He is so cute and clever.
ReplyDeleteNice find...I love quilt barns! Little Sammy is a cutie..love those big blue eyes!!!
ReplyDeleteohhh what a cute entry this week!
ReplyDeleteGreat barn quilt & I'm definitely in agreement w/ you on the old weathered wood! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAs for Sammy's barn, too too cute! What a cutie pie! LoL!
Thanks so much for joining, Carletta =)
Sammy has such an adorable smile. It speaks volumes :) Loved your photos today. I have never seen those quilts on the side of a barn around here. I think I will have to explore a little further into the countryside. Have a great day Carletta.
ReplyDeleteOh, Carletta, Sammy is so cute...hard to believe he is two....and I love your quilt barn!
ReplyDeleteI love to find quilt barns, too, and yours is a beauty! Love the wood.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen many Barn Quilts in Co, but I enjoyed seeing them when I lived in Mn. Your barn shot is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteFine happy views. I am greeting
ReplyDelete....and Sammy is right-a truck or car or tractor in a barn is perfectly ok- especially for little boys!
ReplyDeleteYour Sammy has fantastic eyes and I've probably said that a few times before. I'm sure he will hear that a lot through out his lifetime! :)
I love the quilt barns that you find. I wish I could see some of them 'in person' but visiting you is the next best thing!
Thanks for finding neat stuff to share.
Junie
fab shots Carletta, I can't believe they were taken from a moving vehicle!
ReplyDeleteSammy is adorable and I wouldn't at all argue with him re trucks, he seems to know what he's talking about!
How fun! I have a nice mental picture of you leaning across that patient driver to take the wonderful barn sign picture! Sammy is adorable! (I actually remember loving a toy barn set back a hundred and ten years ago when I was little -- and my kids loved theirs too!)
ReplyDeleteI love the quilt barns too- and Sammy is a cutie!
ReplyDeleteWhile I like Sammy's barn, the old barn you found is beautiful. The quilt square looks much newer than the barn itself.
ReplyDeleteAhh, the fisher-price barn is always a well loved barn. your photo is great too.
ReplyDeleteWonderful weathered old barn! And how cute to include Sammy's toy barn as well! Love the quilt design too, by the way.
