  2. I like this--I always like photos looking down a fence row. And that looks so typical for around here.

  3. Good God! You, Carletta, have a fixation on fences - ha ha!
Thank God, the fence shown is on a hillside so would be safe from the raging floods of here in Australia.
That fence would not last 5 seconds!
I can presume that there are deer and other animals of nature's wonderworld in this area? They must be very respectful of fences in West Virginia. Here, kangaroos, wallabies, emus and the feral "unmentionables of the animal world" - ie pigs, buffaloes and camels would knock your antique fence to pieces in seconds.
I have now come to the conclusion that the animal families
( domesticated and wild) of West Virgina are far more respectful than here in Australia.
Imagine if our Wagga Wagga spiders got onto that fence!!!
Great post Carletta. Keep up the good work.
    Cheers

  6. Great rustic fence! I love the woods behind it too.

Thanks for your Ireland comments! Yes, we have some Irish on my side and my husband also has some on his. I have never felt so much like I had "come home" as I did while I was there. It was the greatest sense of belonging! I hope you get to go some time!

  7. Ooooh and soon ... the grass will be greener again and the trees will have leaves. Does it show I'm counting the days till Spring?

  9. What a lovely peaceful photo! The fence doesn't seem to be that strong...and that's great that it doesn't need to be!

  10. these are my kind of fences....someone down the road from me has spent quite a bit of money with their new fancy fencing with stone foundations and wrought iron (which i do love wrought iron) but it looks so out of place in the rural area the house is and it's just really not even very attractive...i like this much better!

  11. Those look like old locust posts. I can remember cutting those things when I was a kid.
