Friday's Fences

(remember you can click to enlarge images)
A lonely fence post wrapped in barbed wire in front of a lichen covered tree. Look closely at the right side of the tree and you'll notice a rusting cable.
The cable helped to hold this wooden part of a fence across the creek.
You never know what you might find traveling a back road in the country.

  8. I'm glad you were traveling back roads and came upon this fence. The wooden part looks more modern than the fence post.

  10. I love the fence over the stream but I'm amazed it hasn't been damaged by debris in the water. The other fence post does look a little lonely, looks like it has been there awhile.

  11. But I'm wondering, why a fence across the creek? Maybe it's an ongoing dispute between neighbors.

  13. Isn't that the truth that you never know what you'll find... Lots of photo ops down just about every back road, that's why I love traveling them so much! I wonder if that fence will wash out in the spring when the water level rises.

  18. Hi Carletta

This post and that gate like fence in the gully brought back memories
of my youthful pony club days at Boomi and Moree in the 1950's.

We would be taken for cross country eventing into paddocks and would jump our horses over such obstacles as that - sometimes the horse baulked and just the rider would go over the fence - ha ha.
Strange no one was seriously injured - just their pride was dented! The ages of the riders was between 8 and 16 years!

Returning now to updates on the "Shoot Out at the OK Corral" - ha ha!

  19. Love that second shot- had to blow it up to see it better. That's an elaborate method of fencing a creek.

  21. Funny, I normally use the area around a creek to get past a fence, looks like these guys have outsmarted me :-(
