I never heard of quilt barns before. What a neat idea to paint them like that. Better than tobacco ads. Happy Wordless Wednesday!

Like Raven, I had never seen or heard of such a thing! It must have been amazing to discover. Thank you for sharing!

I'll echo the previous comments, that's a slightly strange trend. Some pretty cool old buildings and a nice find though.

There's some quilt designs to use for the next quilt blanket project! :P
Happy WW!

okay-- ditto.
I've definitely been missing out.
Now I need to add this to my "to do" (or bucket) list.

I'm so glad I stopped in.

Gosh!!
To think that people go through all that trouble to paint a design like this on a barn? That's truly amazing!! You could have used them for Ruby shots too!
They're great Carletta!

I remember a long time ago one of the big magazines showed some barns painted in Pennsylvania and each had an explanation of why it was painted the way it was.

When I first saw your beautiful photos, I remembered that article. Thanks for bringing those memories back.

Are these all in West Virginia?

Carletta: That is amazing that the barn is onpainted but has this pretty quilt pattern painted on it.

Every time I see quilt barn photos I think it'd be so neat to see one for real, but alas I never have come across one. I'll keep looking though...in the meantime, I'm enjoying yours. :-) Happy WW.

Those patterns on the barns are really neat, and a great fine! The third barn pattern looks almost fake because of the way it seems to float so cleanly against the old wood behind it, but don't worry, I believe it's real. ;)

This is a new one on me too. I think I would go crazy being a shutter bug if I saw all of those. Very talented. Thanks for the pictures.

These are beautiful quilt patterns. It's a custom, I guess, to paint these on barns... I love it! :)

Bet Clint isn't hiding in any of these! Beautiful and well preserved.

I love these quilt barns! Another blog I used to visit posted some from Tennessee but I didn't know they had them in Ohio too.

What interesting photos. I’ve never seen such a thing in real life. Thanks for sharing. I’m ‘almost’ wordless at Sacred Ruminations today … reminiscing about Molly’s puppyhood challenges in my OSI Week 24 post.
Hugs and blessings,

When I saw the first photo I thought to myself "I've never seen such a thing"...then I started reading comments, guess I'm not the only one. What a great idea, I'm more of a painter than a quilter - that would be right up my alley.
