Saturday Night Truck Pull

What do you do on a Saturday night at the fair in rural America? Go to the truck pull of course!
I had never been to a truck pull in my entire life and since this one was within hearing distance and almost in sight from home it seemed the thing to do. I have to be honest I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would.
I know all the guys out there know what this is all about; but ladies just briefly a truck pull is when you hook your truck to a "sled" and see how far you can pull it down the track. The sled looks a little like a semi truck bed.
This is what really surprised me. Doesn't this beautiful red four door truck look like the family transportation? Yep, it is! I would have had to hurt somebody I'm telling you.
Of course there were more "souped up" trucks in the next class of competition. These guys were the kind that walked the track and circled the sled to see the "conditions" before they raced.
The driver of this purple beauty was dressed to match. He's the guy you see beside the truck in a black undershirt. That's how he pulled up to the sled. Well ladies, let me tell you, this guy had on purple pants and put on a purple jacket before his race. Who said truck pulling wasn't stylish!
Earlier in the day the tractors pulled the sled. As you can see this was one of the more serious contenders of the day.
You had to love this old farmer. He gave it his best shot but didn't make it a hundred feet when his engine blew. I had to wonder if it was really worth it.
His attempt ended up being the real tractor pull if you see what I mean!
The ladies were represented on this day. This lady and her John Deere made it all the way to the end of the track! Kinda made me wish I had a tractor.

No matter what your ride is today go out there and make it a safe one!
