Wild Birds Come To Call

Today's bird photos aren't crisp and clear portraits by any means; but they serve to record the wild bird happenings in my yard this week. Often we see and hear the squawking Canada Geese flying overhead to one or the other of the surroundings ponds of our neighbors. This past Thursday morning I was sitting in front of my sunroom window and saw this pair waddling down beside my row of Rose of Sharon bushes.

I was hoping they would take a break but they kept walking. After taking this photo I had to retreat to the living room windows to catch a glimpse of them.

I was barely able to get this shot through a very dirty six paned window. They just kept walking in almost a straight line along my property. I believe them to be a pair. The one in front kept watch while the other one nibbled here and there. I was glad for their visit. On the bright side - green grass is peeking through.

This Northern Flicker has made a habit since fall of being just on the outskirts of a good portrait session.  As I watched the geese I saw him in the yard and watched him fly up in this hickory tree. Again he was a little too far and six paned dirty windows are not conducive to bird photography; but - I finally have proof he is here!!!!
