Wild Birds: Hawkeye Pierce

I bet you can tell from my title that I'm a fan of the old MASH TV show? Don't know if this guy's name is Pierce or not but he definitely has a piercing hawk eye.
Hubby and I saw him hanging out on the wires as we were turning in to the parking lot of the local Cracker Barrel Restaurant for dinner.

The hawk was on a dinner expedition of his own.
What was he so intently surveying in front of him?

See those black blurry dots? Those were the birds flying everywhere trying to get into the nearby trees out of sight. Not sure if he was successful in his mission but I can say Hubby and I had a delicious dinner that evening.

Linking to Stewart's Wild Birds.

Maybe he was already stuffed and just watching the cooking channel on live tv! :)

You captured a great look on his face in that first shot. Maybe he was hinting for your leftovers….

He is a beauty! I can always tell when there is a hawk lurking in my backyard because all the squirrels and birds disappear.

Remember that show well - excellent series. You got some great shots here and I'm glad you all had an enjoyable dinner.

This guy certainly hasn't found a natural spot to hang out. we usually think of birds in trees but then Leonard Coen sings about a bird on a wire,

I enjoyed these photos very much. Hopefully Mr. Pierce had a dinner that was as delicious (to him) as yours and hubby's was.

Great little hawk too last week .... same colouration from the look of this guy.... mine was sitting a lot closer to his lunch... staring into a bush at some quivering sparrows...which by the way he did NOT get... whew.......

I meant to say I, too had a great little hawk last week... what has happened to my brain? .. totally left out the first bit of my sentence.. or phrases..seeing as I like to use just those.
