We have wild turkeys that roam the woods around us and we often catch glimpses of them year round. This hen was right under my sunroom window a couple of weeks ago. There is a bird feeder just out of sight to the left. I usually take a couple of photos and back away leaving them to find what seeds they can. There were two hens that day but I haven't seen them since. That doesn't mean they haven't been around - just that I haven't seen them. Turkey season begins next week so I'd be just as happy if they stay hidden. :)

Nice photo of the Wild Turkey!
Greetings, RW & SK
She's so pretty. Love her markings and colors. My dad and I kept hearing a turkey hen while we were fishing, but never saw her.
A fine close in shot of this turkey. Excellent detail and color in this image. Well done.
they are SO pretty! nice shot!
I love to see wild turkeys! I can never get a good photo because they are so fast. Great shot!
I really love these funny old things. I too I hope yours (and the ones we have around here) stay hidden during the coming hunting season.
Nice picture Carletta. I almost used the word "shot" there but thought better of it. No wonder the Wild Turkeys are so shy.
Your key phrase is I haven't seen them not to say that they haven't been around. With feeders , I wonder how many little surprises there are.
Great photo and very nice to have the turkeys come that close to your house.
Fabulous profile of the wild turkey!! Hope he soon goes into hiding...turkey season just around the corner. ;o)
A beautiful bird to see running wild... nothing like them on my little patch.
They are kind of cute! What a neat backyard bird. I hope they stay safe! Have a happy week!
I love all her patterned feathers! Lovely photo - I hope they stay safe! xo
I would love to see a few turkeys roaming around my area, but I never do, because I live in Montreal. :) I do, however, see a couple here and there in nature parks, and I love them!
I love your photo, Carletta! :)
She's certainly dressed beautifully with her feathers of different colors......This is a great shot, Carletta....
Great picture of the turkey, Carletta... Bet they like eating the extra bird seed on the ground...
Hugs,
Betsy
Hope it sees the winter this year!
Turkeys up my way seem to be getting bolder and bolder, though hunting season may turn them into shy birds again.
What a great shot - I've never managed to get that close. I hope she finds a good hiding place for the next couple of months!
Great image Carletta
As elusive as they can be, they sometimes show up in our son's yard in Texas.
How fun to have wild turkeys in your yard. Your shot of this one is wonderful. I love the blue color of her neck.
such a proud bird. excellent shot.
You got the pretty wild turkey compared to my newest blog of Turkeys.
