I'm Back!

Last week we were traveling home and encountered a few rain showers that left the mountains engulfed in a misty fog. As we neared Charleston, West Virginia the rain had stopped and the fog lifted to reveal the lovely water colored sky of the evening sunset over the state capitol building.

Some of my regular readers may wonder where I've been. Hubby and I have been off visiting our daughter. Our oldest granddaughter started Kindergarten and we wanted to be there to share in her new experiences. An alarm goes off in her room at 6:00 and you can hear her feet hit the floor. She goes to the bathroom and brushes her teeth and begins getting dressed. The first week she wanted school to be seven days a week. We had to explain everybody needed some time off. When she understood the other kids (especially the little boy at her table) wouldn't be there either she was ok with taking a break. She rode the bus the first day and her Mommy met her at school. When our daughter caught up with her Lily said, 'Mommy, you were right. Riding the bus was fun!'
Hoping the joy she has found in school these first couple of weeks lasts a lifetime!
Little sister Lucy is getting adjusted to being away from her big sister. The first morning as I sat with her at breakfast she said, 'Grammy, this is a special moment - nobody else just me and Grammy.' Yes, that made my day!

Just some updated photos of the girls!
Leaving with pig-tails nice and tight and returning with strands of hair escaped and in her mouth but she was still smiling at the end of the day!

One day Lucy went to stay at her babysitter's house because Papaw was doing some painting. She packed a lunch and her favorite stuffed bunny to take with her. Nothing like a new Barbie doll to keep a little girl busy!

Happy to know your absence was for such a wonderful reason! Such a great story. I'm sure Lily'a love of school will continue (although I do expect she'll grow to love her weekends off as well). Precious that little sister and her grammy had those special moments!

Hard to believe she is in school...and they are so pretty. Don't you just love their smiles that hold nothing back?

Lorelei started preschool a few weeks ago and totally loves it, too. She had wanted to go to school forever, but I was still wondering how she would be when she actually started. She still loves it as much today as she did the first day.

And I am with you--hope they always enjoy school and learning.

Awww, so precious and are your granddaughters ever adorable! I like that they call you Grammy, I've never heard this before and it was Elyssa that chose to call me this right from the get go, she was barely talking when she started calling me Grammy and what amazed me back then is her other Grandma is just that, Grandma. I guess in her young mind that was her way of knowing who she was talking about. But Elyssa has set precedence, now this is what I want all my grandchildren to call me. I think it's adorable!

I also hope your granddaughter keeps the same precious attitude towards school that she's formulated at such a young age, what a blessing this would be!

Have yourself a wonderful week!
