Beyond The Fence Post

A rustic fence post encircled with weed and wire.
A little closer look.
Beyond the fence post was a farmer's first cutting of hay. It's a little later than normal but nearby farmers are finally cutting and putting up this year's first cutting. This was cut last week and most was moved and covered. Some got drenched last night with the severe thunderstorms that came through our area. We had strong winds, thunder, lightning and a little hail but no damage. Less than an hour away my hometown was inundated with close to three inches of rain in a few hours time and is seeing the worst flooding in its history. As I type this the sun is shining outside my window and it looks like a beautiful ending to a very stormy day.
Linking to Friday's Fences.

I always like weathered would. Your shots show a good example of weathered wood.

If that old fence post could talk, it would have stories to tell --about life in that area all through the years..

Sorry about your rain and flooding --but I'm glad you had nothing severe at your home. That storm did alot of damage in many areas.

Hugs,
Betsy

I see you take amazing shots Carletta, I love your fence photos with the perfect macro background. I can also see the next post about the titmouse, you take stunning photos!

I'm along for the journey, hope you don't mind. I'll visit from time to time and stop by to say hello.

Have yourself a fantastic weekend! I hope you have plenty of sunshine for that hay. We've also been getting a lot of rain for this time of year, such is life... the saying "You gotta make hay while the sun is shining" just popped into my head... sheesh! lol

I'm sorry to hear about the flooding and storms in your area. We were fortunate in that most of the bad weather missed us. Your photos are wonderful.

Great photos Carletta, beautiful rural scenes.

That was quite a storm that went through last night. I'm glad you didn't have any damage. I saw on the news a lot of downed trees on rooftops.

Wishing you a great weekend.

Beautiful close up of the fence Carletta, I bet it smelt gorgeous there after they'd cut the hay :)

Indiana had a doozy of a storm night before last too. Fortunately for us, it passed by mostly to our south.

Love that first shot, with the focus on the fence and the hazy hay field in the background.

I don't know why, but I found your picture of the old fence post very romantic. Maybe a good memory was made close by!

I'm really liking your recent style of photography, Carletta. Especially the soft focus backgrounds with strong foreground interest. This time between the end of spring and beginning summer is a good time to be in the country--as your photos prove.

Crazy weather everywhere it seems like; looks like a happy ending there though.
