Snow Day!!

Yesterday morning we awoke to a snow storm. It was about 23 degrees outside and this little Mourning Dove was sitting all puffed up atop the garden gate post waiting patiently for me to come out and fill the bird feeders.
I was beginning to think I wasn't going to see much snow this winter so the white landscape was a pleasant surprise.
After filling the bird feeders I sat for awhile and just watched the snow pile up on the ground and tree branches.
Later in the afternoon the snow stopped and the sun came out and we were treated to some lovely blue skies.
The snow covered rocks by our fish pond might be completely covered by days end today. We are expected to get 2-5 inches more throughout the day. Time to cuddle up in front of the fireplace with a good book! Hope you enjoy your weekend where you are!

Your dove has blue eyeliner...did you see mine that had green? They've been playing in the makeup!

What a winter wonderland! I love when snow falls here, however rare an occasion that may be, but I'm also just as glad when it melts and the sun comes back out. I cannot imagine days and days of white. I think I'd go stir crazy!

Great shot of the dove. The white snow scene with the bare trees making a pattern makes a nice picture.

That dove is so cute. :) Of course I love your snow pictures. I just love you wren pictures below. They are one of my favorite birds. When I was growing up the would build their nests on our porch. They weren't a bit afraid of us.

Gorgeous, Carletta... I wish we would get some snow. Today we had an Ice Storm... Schools are closed and it's slick outside.. However, it's supposed to warm up enough this afternoon to melt some of this ice... Hope so!!!!

Hugs,
Betsy

Snow can really brighten up the landscape. Yes , the birds can sit and wait for us to fill the feeders. They're smarter than we think.

Cuddle up and enjoy! No excuses for doing that here, but I manage to do so anyway (without the fireplace).

Your snow really is beautiful.

What beautiful photos. I am fascinated by all the snowy landsacpes - we are so dry, hot and brown this summer.
