Barn Charm: Through The Trees

Yep, definitely a drive-by shot but it was the only way along a busy highway to capture this beauty.
We had left our son's home last week just outside DC and were in Maryland on our way home when I saw this through the trees and did the only thing I could - point and shoot. What a great barn though. Do click and enlarge the image to see its wonderful details.
It looks to me as if it has been converted for some other use. I'm going by the glass door and the decorative lights and what looks like window blinds on some of the windows.  Just behind  the trees on the right you can barely glimpse another barn-like structure with a green roof. Sure hope next time we're up that way I'll get another chance to get a better shot.

I not only find these old barns interesting as far as appearance goes but as to their history. What stories they could tell? I guess it comes from my background as a farm boy.
the drive by shot gives a rather interesting effect. If you stopped you'd still be looking through the trees.

All I ever get is drive-bys....looks great to me! We had some friends years ago that converted an old barn into a house, and that looks like what these people have done. I would love to live there!

I'm amazed by drive-bys - I just cannot get my camera focused fast enough! This is a beauty - rather fancy for a barn, and such a nice green roof!

It's a great barn! Sometimes we have to take our shots where we can get them! :-) Thanks for your kind birthday greetings!

You lucky girl...you really did hit the jackpot with this one. Love that green roof. I was about to ask...Where is WV is it?"" Well, you answered that one for me. Don;t guess I will ever get to see it up close or in a drive by.genie

Great catch, Carletta. Amazing how the barn is crisp behind the blurred trees. Nice effect.

What a beautiful barn - and so nice that someone is using it still. What a nice home or studio it would make! Great shot on the run! xx

You did very well with the drive-by shot of this impressive barn. I agree that it has been put to other uses. It appears to be too stately for a simple barn.

That is a great barn. It's really large. Maybe it's been converted into one of those dance/party barns.

Great barn, but I am most impressed that you managed to get the barn in focus and the trees blurred--I usually manage just the opposite!

That is a beauty! And you did a marvelous job of getting the barn in focus!

I think you may be right about it being converted, can you imagine being able to live in such a cool old barn! So neat!

Thank you muches for joining, Carletta =)

I think they're living in their Carletta! And I wouldn't blame them at all. What a beauty.

The through the trees shot really works with this barn--the tree colors complement the barn color so well. And I think you're right--this place must be renovated for some other purpose although a bit large for private home? More detective work called for!

Haha! I also take scenery shots when I’m just a mere passenger. :D The natural background blur was magnificent -- forcing the eyes only to look at the barn or should I say the roof! It’s insane realizing that the roof is bigger than the walls from afar. But it’s definitely good-looking gambrel roof. :D -->Son
